I love the concept of the bolt on de-thatcher to eliminate a second pass with the sweeper and changing attachments. Time saver for sure. I gave a 3 star rating for a couple reasons. First I think it should have a second row like the stand alone unit (if possible) in the design and second thing is the tines on either end are bending up constantly. Not sure why because I didnt take the time to watch behind me to determine the cause since it was about to rain. They are not going to last long if they keep bending and I keep bending them back to correct position. Other than those two concerns I am happy with it. I might add that I do have the 2 row stand alone de-thatcher as well but eliminated the need for an extra pass across the 1 acre yard with the sweeper by adding the bolt on de-thatcher to it.

one of the 741-0248 bearing flanges was missing, the three bolts #46526 listed as 1/2 -13 x 3/1/2 were to short. I called to get these parts, when they came the bearing flange and three bolts came in a few days, however the bolts were the same as I already had. They were 1/2 – 13 x 3 5/16. bolts are measured by the shank length not overall length. I had to buy the correct bolts to finish assembly. I would recommend you get this problem resolved to avoid future customer issues.

I just bought this to use with my sweeper, which I love by the way, and it did a credible job. It didn’t like the stepper grades much as it would get under the sweeper but once I figured a better travel path it worked great. I have surface roots and it handled them without a problem. My only criticism is the assembly instructions were a little dicy. However once I found my “section” assembly was straight forward and simple for even the unskilled assembler.

I bought this de-thatcher last fall. It took about 45 minutes to assemble and I put it to work. It’s really nice to de-thatch and sweep up all the debris at the same time. I then went at 90 degrees to the first pass. Reseeded next and then fertilizer. The whole process was about 2 hours for 9000 square feet. Did the back yard a couple days later, 15000 square feet, about a little over 3 &1/2 hours.I had a pull behind de-thatcher for about 10 or so years, my neighbor asked if he could borrow, it, I told him to just keep it. This type works so much better, and you can raise it for transport, and remove it completely in a couple minutes Somebody put some thought into this tool, when they designed it. I use the sweeper every couple weeks in the summer, it only takes a few minutes to connect to my lawn tractor and the yard looks neater because of it.

purchased front mount de-thatcher and sweeper on same day. Assembled them, started to sweep yard, then the problem set in. Center single gauge wheel!!!!! First problem should have two, wheel went into low spot, de-thatcher went under sweeper, second problem, conduit clamps are not strong enough. However for the short time I did use it, it work good. I will get it back on and be more careful next time. It is a good product.

I called to order the hose for an older Mow-N-Vac and the rep was so very helpful. I could not ask for better service and quick shipment. Since we live in the woods we needed this replacement part to pick up the thousands of leaves we have and the original hose kept falling apart. Thank you so much for your promptness.

I bought an the 44″ Agri-Fab sweeper soley because of this attachment. It was a fantastic idea to combine a de-thatcher with the sweeper. This saves time and money by doing the work in half as many passes. However, this attachment was poorly designed when it comes to the 44″ Agri-Fab sweeper. The attachment brackets are stout but needlessly bulky and the sides are slightly crooked; this does not affect the performance but does detract from the overall opinion. The mounting method of the de-thatcher to the brackets looks like it was rushed and thrown together with available parts. The wheel also hit the tow arm of the 44″ sweeper when in the transport position; this forced me to offset my tow arm to one side.

Certainly glad I bougth this, works well and is a great addition to a sweeper. I just wish that it was designed to the same standards as the rest of the Agri-Fab products I’ve seen and owned. I will likely construct my own replacement mounting brackets to get rid of the bulky ones.

Good Dethatcher. I have it attached to the Agri-Fab Lawn Sweeper but you want to pay attention to where you have the hook so it is easy to release and connect. I placed too close to part of the frame that interfered at first and I could not get it too release.

  10. Anonymous

Assembles easily, attaches quickly, and works just like it should. This spring tine attachment lifts the thatch and other debris a from the lawn and allows the sweeper to grab it and toss it into the bag. A good addition to a great sweeper.

  11. JDem

The de-thatcher is great! You have to watch though to be sure that it doesn’t drop when you have it hooked up in the “Not in use” position. if you have a rough lawn the unit has a tendency to bounce off the hook and start to drag.

  12. DAVE A

good piece of equipment but………the tine attachment is not good. rather than pinching the tine between 2 washers a simple twist and have the bolt drop thru the resulting hole would be muh more secure.

  13. S J N

The 1/2″ bolts provided are too short!
Had to go to the hardware store to get 3 longer bolts.
When I start to use this de-thatcher I will write again.
If it works, for the price, deal.

  14. Jimwojo

I like the sweeper mounted dethatcher, but the only drawback is I wish, when not in use,it could be stored perpendicular to the frame.

  15. Lazy farmer

Purchased to go along with lawn sweeper. The combo works very well together, saving time and gas.

  16. Moose 62

I like it as an attachment on my lawn sweeper instead of having it as a separate unit

  17. Armadillo Stu

Did exactly what it said it would do! Assembly was fun, worked like a champ!

  18. Bill Kory

Love it! What a work saver…., Fall is coming…., I will be ready!

  19. Mark123

The wheel broke off the firs time I used the dethatcher.
