The Bostitch HP118K 23 GA Pin Nailer is the perfect pneumatic tool for all of those tiny, intricate applications. This pin nailer will drive from 1/2 In. to 1-3/16 In. 23 gal pin nails and has enough power to do so in nearly any kind of lumber. It features an adjustable high/low power switch for those different types of woods and allows the user to not have to adjust the compressor. Its made of light-weight aluminum for job site durability and has an over-molded rubber grip for extreme comfort. The HP118K also has rear exhaust like most Bostitch finish tools which directs the exhaust away from the end user and away from the work surface. Although this might not be a beginner tool, once you get into woodworking, you’ll find many uses for it, like glue sets (where it is tough or impossible to use clamps) and any application where you are worried about the witness mark (the hole the driver head leaves in the wood surface).

I finally replaced my cheap pin nailer with the Bostitch HP118K 23GA pin nailer. I have 2 other Bostitch nailers so naturally I went for the Bostitch pin nailer. What a difference! 1000 pins without jamming. Very easy to load and use. I was even using a cheap brand on pins and had no trouble at all. The only thing I did was remove the belt clip which got in my way in the intricate work I was doing. Bostitch could have made that a little easier with screws instead of roll pins. I really hate taking a hammer and driver punch to a new piece of equipment. Great gun, I would strongly recommend this gun to anyone. Too bad is discontinuing them from their stock.

This is my second Bostitch nail gun. As with the brad nailer, I have found this pin nailer to be a very reliable tool, delivering excellent results. This tool allows you to adjust the pin depth and pin size easily. The compact gun allows you to get into tight corners when building small furniture pieces. I would recommend this tool as a smart buy.

I own a Portercable pin nailer and tried to pin some oak trim i made myself but the pins would not go all the way in i tried everything but would not sink them all the way in so i figured i’ll try the Bostitch pin nailer what a good choice you cannot go wrong with this pin nailer belt hook is very nice and fits very nice in your hand i would highly recommend this tool if you need a good pin nailer

  4. Unsatisfied2

I bought this about a month ago and just started using it. I loaded it with 1″ pins (that came with the pinner) and was pinning some small frames. Every other shot misfired; I had to open the magazine and realign the pins. It appears that the force of the gun driving the pin jars the pins out of alignment back toward the head. When I push the pins back in place, the next shot works fine but throws the pins out of alignment again.
Tomorrow I am taking it back to for a refund. I’ll try my luck with the Porter Cable.

I like this little pinner, but not as much as my previous one, a Porter Cable. I got this because My local store for some reason had it marked almost half price. Bought two of them since I use them professionally.
The only issue I have is the safety. On the Porter Cable you can easily hold the nailer without depressing the safety, which is important due to the small size of the grip. Not so this tool, to grab the tool without squeezing the safety is almost impossible. Hence lots of misfires. If you’ve ever had one of those nasty little pins in your fingernail you’ll know why this is discomforting.

I have two Bostich nailers, one a finish nail gun and the other a AWG 22 pin nailer.

As a person who works mostly alone in my shop, I like the ability to hold the part in one hand or with clamps and to quickly and accurately fix it with nails or pins. I also find that if I need to make a correction, the piece I nailed can normally be removed and replaced with very minor holes that can be easily filled.

My only caution is that you need to unplug and empty the air tank on the compressor. If you do not, you will be awakened in the middle of the night by the loud compressor refilling.

    Nice tools.

This nail gun is exactly what I needed to do finish work on trim pieces without leaving much of a nail hole. It seems reasonably well made.
