We had a Broan range hood before in almond and was much better quality. It had 2 lights and 2 filter panels and was much heavier. Had to get a stainless steel one but could not find one in fingerprint resistant so just got the stainless steel one. We had it in box few weeks until new range was delivered. If I had seen it before my husband took it out of the box and installed it when I wasn’t home I would have sent it back. The metal is so flimsy. Has one little light and one filter and looks so cheap. Really disappointed.

I needed a new range hood and didn’t want to spend an arm and a leg getting a bunch of features I wouldn’t use. This range hood was under $100.00,and since I mostly needed the light over my stove, this was a great buy for us. It has the fan, which you can vent or use unvented. We needed an electrician to hook up the wiring, but it was pretty simple for him. He didn’t gouge us with an unreasonable bill to install the hood. All in all,we are happy with our purchase. If you are not interested in all the bells and whistles of the more expensive hoods, this one should work just fine for you.

I removed the hood from the box, and 1 corner was dented, though the box looked good. I was able to tap out the dent without too much trouble, as I had already taken down the old hood, and I had to order this hood. (The store didn’t have it in stock.) The overall weight of the hood was not what I expected. A lot lighter material used than I thought it would be. Installation wasn’t that difficult. Had it up in a couple of hours. I don’t rush doing things like this, especially the wiring. I hope it lasts a good while, and believe it will.

I ordered my range hood on line and was notified two days before it was promised that it was at the store. The customer service upon arriving at the store was great.!The hood is very attractive and was very easy to install
my husband had it in in no time, with no trouble. The hood just sets off my kitchen ! the fan is very quiet and that is really a plus ! I would recommend this product to any one.

This range hood is very well made and was an easy install for a novice. The motor is very quiet. All in all, I am very happy with this product!

  7. Doityourselfer

Took a week to receive but was in no hurry. It was packaged well. No holes in the box and no dents or damage to hood. Installation was easy. Hooked right up to existing duct work. Only have two issues. Electrical wiring came thru wall on left side but nockout on hood for wiring is on right side. A quick reroute of wiring and done. Other issue is the cover for non vented exhaust doesn’t clip in tight and blows air back into room. Not a big issue but its there. Total install took 45 minutes. Quick and easy for a do it yourselfer. Looks great and works like it supposed to.

Basic over-the-range hood, used in some back-vented manufactured homes. Easy to install. Fit perfect.
No extras except a 2-speed fan and a mediocre lamp. The light fixture & cover are the cheapest design feature of the unit. See photo.

A good price–maybe a little bit flimsy but the price is right and once hung its great!!

Bought this for my rental property online. I was easy to shop online and find just what I wanted at a great price. It was shipped quickly. Customer service notified me as soon as it arrived at the store for pickup.

I’m very pleased with purchase online at ! I will be back soon to shop again online!

The ductless version was easy to install. The carbon filter was not included; only the aluminum piece. This item had to be purchased separately. I was told that most installations include duct work which doesn’t require the charcoal filter. I would suggest selling the charcoal filter on the page that shows the range hood. It would avoid the shipping expense.

It was extremely difficult to find an economical 36″ white hood vent. I was very happy to find this one after having to return one I got from a different big box store. You can’t beat this deal for under $80!

  13. cwooly

Not as fancy as some other hoods but significantly less expensive and looks great, given this hood exists, I see very little value in buying a much more expensive hood, this one looks great. Very easy to install too.

  14. Frank101

I really liked how easy it was to install although I was surprised to find out it did not include the AC cord? I had to go back to the store and buy it. Not a big deal but was not expecting have to go back for something else.

I chose this Broan hood fan because I wanted something that looked nice, and had a vent fan. I also bought it because we are planning on selling our home next year and I couldnt justify spending more than 100 bucks or so. The removal of our old unit was a DIY nightmare; 30 years ago they had somehow wedged it into the wall with glue and tile grout.
After a few hours we finally got the greasy old fan out. The Broan looks nice, but as another reviewer wrote, it feels a bit flimsy. Broan designed a screw and slot system that proved to be a time-waster. Take my advice and just drill four holes in the sheet metal and just hang it.
Now that the Broan is in, it looks awesome. The fan has a bit of a high pitch that can get tiresome.
Using a 60 watt bulb looked way too bright so I went to a lower wattage.
If you plan to stay in your home any length of time I’d recommend buying a much nicer unit, but for rentals or sales this is a good buy.

I liked the stainless steel finish which should be easy to clean, but I was disappointed that the range hood was not better designed to draw all the air through an external pipe.

I had this range hood installed over a stove, and venting to a vertical stove pipe. When the fan was turned on, I was surprised that –
    1) I could see the spinning fan through the front louvers. This is neither good nor bad. But, for an externally vented range hood, I was hoping for no range hood openings, except for the stove pipe.
    2) I could feel air coming out of the front louvers. With external venting, I was expecting *all* the air to travel through the stove pipe and not recirculate to the kitchen. I am thinking of applying some aluminum tape over the front louver openings.
    3) I could see the wiring connection, from AC wall to range hood, through the louvers. Over time, this exposed wiring will probably have grease buildup requiring periodic cleaning. When the grease builds up within the range hood itself, and drips past the grease screen, that will be the time to buy a better range hood.

Underside of hood has one small filter in the center directly over the blower. The light is nothing but a utility receptacle clipped in front of the filter with a cheesey plastic gaurd over it. The rest is an open, empty shell with square sharp corners, seams and nooks for grease to accumulate.
It would be very difficult to keep clean. Didn’t bother to install.
    This item is JUNK!
It will be returned to .
Will have to spend the extra $$$$ to get something better. Like the Broan Allure series.

Well I guess you get what you pay for. To start off: it’s under sized in width by an 1/8″ so if you are replacing an existing unit, expect a 1/8 inch gap near any tile or woodwork. 2nd: the filter is so flimsy it won’t hold it’s shape when clamped in place by the turn lock, thus creating an area for air to bypass the filter. 3rd: if you get the model that is designed to be ducted OR non ducted, it comes with a plastic block off plate that snaps over the vent louvers just to the left of the switch controls ( if you are using an outside duct). The problem with this is it doesn’t seal well enough and exhaust air shoots past it out of the face of the unit, just what you’re trying to avoid by using an outside duct. Other than these 3 issues it looks good and works OK. It’s a shame a company like Broan has to resort to these kind of cost cutting tactics to improve their bottom line. All I wanted was a decent simple range hood that fit well and did it’s job. I would have gladly paid a few dollars more for the quality. To conclude, the Broan hood it was replacing was 30″ NOT 29-7/8″ and had a “firm” well built filter with no other problems.

This product looks nice in place and brightens my kitchen – so glad I don’t have to walk into dark kitchen in the mornings. While I was not at home when it was installed, my husband said the person who installed it had no problems at all. One thing though, the light is at an odd angle but I will get used to that. Glad to have a new hood in place.
