We bought these as we were tired of chipping dishes, and heard Vitrelle glass was the way to go. Although I am not a fan of the “plasticy” Corelle dishware, we thought we’d give this a try. It is a nice design, although I don’t think the description stated that the bowls were plain white with the exception of the rim. I understand a design might be hard to transfer to a bowl. And yes, there is a different sound when your fork moves over the design part versus the white. These don’t feel as elegant and solid as stoneware, etc. but if they do what they say they will do (not chip) we will be happy, especially for the price.

These are really pretty updated plates and bowls. They are not as blue when seen in person; more of a subtle tone grey. But for some reason, the colored area of the plate has a rough surface which makes a disconcerting nails on chalkboard sound as you pick up food with a fork. We find ourselves unconsciously pushing our food over to the smooth white side to avoid that sound. This is so unusual for a Corelle normally smooth-as-glass product. Also, when cleaning, it’s tricky because you expect a clean plate to feel smooth so it’s hard to tell when that rough side of the plate is clean. I love these for the looks. Maybe Corelle can rethink this design to give the painted area a smooth surface.

The design isn’t quite what you can see in the pictures. I thought it was a soft blend of misty colors, but the dark gray is a stark line of paint that resembles the sticky remnants of pulled up duct tape. Also, the painted part has a different texture than the white, and while my husband thinks it’s fine, to me, scraping a fork there is like nails on a chalkboard.

Great all around Corelle you would expect. Only disappointment is that the displayed colours are not true to what I received. On actual product, I found the blue tone to be VERY subtle, and almost greyish itself.

  5. Mary

Would have been a 5 star but one bowl has a paint run down the side.

Nice product but one bowl had a paint run.

I’ve come back to Corelli after a long absence. I had a plain white when my kids (now 35 and 41) were growing up. I transitioned to stoneware and “nice china” when they were older-much older! Now 74, I sold my home and most of my possessions two years ago, moved to the coast of NC, and bought new stoneware and “nice china.”

It didn’t take long for me to “long” for the more manageable weight and better durability of Corelle, and I finally found in Tranquil Reflection a pattern I could get on board with. Very pretty, lightweight and easy to handle for an older person, and true to Corelle, more durable and less vulnerable to chipping than stoneware and ceramic or porcelain. Or even bone china, for that matter. I’ve very happy with my purchase.

There are nicer looking dishes than corelle, but nothing that lasts as long. These dishes replaced a 20 year old set I had to match our home color scheme (modern grey white & blue). We really like the square plates too and I got a kyoto night as well. The two sets are very different but color wise perfect complements. I saw some reviews didn’t like the texture of the pattern but I don’t even notice it for any reason. Strong, nice looking with modern colors, watch for sales and coupons for the best prices.

I have had a set of Corelle since I left home (many many years) and was looking for a new set. This one had exactly the items I was looking for: Large plates, salad plates and bowls. I was not looking for a set with cups/mugs. I wanted something that had some decoration and my husband really does not like anything flowery. This set was perfect, it has enough color and design to resonate with our kitchen palatte yet not overwhelming. We are both very very happy with this set and definitely recommend it!

Lovely! I’ve had my Corelle plates and bowls for a quarter of a century, and it still comes out of the dishwasher shiny and looking new. My daughter gets married this summer, and I am thrilled that she chose Corelle, too, because there is really nothing better: hard to break and unlike my expensive set of dishes (which are only used about 4 times a year), there are no cracks, chips, or permanent annoying, ugly marks from forks and knives. My daughter will never be sorry she made such a smart choice.

I had Corelle dishes when my children were very young. My 34 year old son is currently using them. I switched to a different set (not corelle)and was happy with them. However, as I have agedI have found these dishes have become too heavy as I have arthritis in my hands. I have switched back to Corelle and am very happy I have ordered off the site. I have never seen the Tranquil Reflection in any store here. Also was happy there were no mugs included in the set

As long as I can remember my grandmother used this brand for all her dishes. I finally decided to make the switch to Corelle, and I am never going back. I am so happy with this purchase. We bought three sets and I absolutely love them. I love how light they are, and how easy they are to clean. There is only one teeny thing I don’t love about the plates. The sound of the knife against the colored parts of the plate when you cut food. Would buy again though.

I’m really happy with the look and weight of this set. The colors are true to the website photos, and these are surprisingly light weight.

The reason I didn’t give 5 stars is that this dinnerware really transfers heat! Perhaps it’s because they’re so thin, but they get really hot at the location(s) where hot food is. For example, when microwaving leftovers, the underside of the plate (not the edges) is SUPER hot compared to my non-Corelle dinnerware.

I’ve had nothing but hand-me-down dinnerware for years. They were heavy and chipped everywhere and I hated them! I spent nearly a year researching the various materials available on the market trying to decide what was best for our young and growing family. I decided that only Corelle was able to hit all the ticks on my list so then I just had to find the look I wanted. I splurged and bought 2 sets of the Tranquil Reflection and when they arrived I was over the moon! They are so much more in person! So much so that I bought a 3rd set a few days later along with some cute Mickey Mouse plates for my son. Lol. Corelle has blown this tired momma of 2 under 2 away! They withstand the unfortunate beating my toddler often gives them and they wash beautifully even when my 37 year old toddler doesn’t take care of his dirties and the food crusts on (eye roll).

We use our dinnerware daily. Have been using a hodge-podge of unmatched dishware for many years. I originally picked another brand of dinnerware that I really liked. Then did some research and found they are not even SAFE to eat on if heated up!!! So I immediately checked out the designs Correlle had to offer and fell in love with the Tranquil Reflection. I know I could count on Correlle because that is what I grew up on!

I bought four sets of “Tranquil Reflection” and our family and friends love them. I had used six previous sets of the “ Cottage Charm” for about twenty years. They are still pretty and serviceable, I just needed a change of style. I’ve been looking at dinnerware sets for two years, but couldn’t get myself to buy anything but Corelle. Thank you for the watercolor feel of the “Tranquil Reflections”. Sincerely, P. K.

I love the design of these plates. I wanted something that would last a long time and also look great. These fit the bill and I was able to get rid of my old mismatched “set”. WARNING: if you are particular about noises – these plates are very odd sounding when a fork or knife rubs them? It’s a particularly unappealing sound, but not one that will make me return them.

My parent had Corelle dishes when I was a kid and they still have the same set for over 40 years. That being said I never liked the feel of the dishes so I was hesitant to buy them. But I am very happy with this set. The colors are great and wash well. So far I don’t mind the texture. I hope they last at least half as long as theirs did.

I bought this set to replace an old ceramic set that my kids were chipping regularly. Corelle dishes are so sturdy and stackable – great for families with small kids. And they last forever! I have some of my grandmother’s blue flower pattern from her wedding 60 years ago. I highly recommend! #sweepstakes
