I bought two full sets (bottom, intermediate, and top chests) of these to match the two sets I already had, and have loved for over 20 years. These are NOT comparable. The fit and finish are shoddy, the lids and drawers don’t all close snug and straight, the casters are not the old heavy rubber ones… the price was OK, but if you’re buying these because you expect something better than the Cheapo Charlie import lookalikes, you’ll be sadly disappointed.

As for the purchase, that was also less than stellar. The boxes showed up torn and re-taped, two of the toolboxes had damaged corners, and the Customer Service person who did the exchange at my local was REALLY curt and rude.

What a disappointment. They hold my tools, so… whatever.

Awesome toolbox well-constructed! Drawers are smooth and well locking. Recommended without a doubt.

  3. Vmarch

Bought this online and picked it up at Lowe’s. The box had shipping damage but the damage did not go past the packing foam. The two has struts keep the lid up without a hinge support. The drawers self close and take a little effort to pull open. Paint and assembly was very nice

  4. Seaturtlesuz

I love my ability to organize!!. I had far outgrown my 3 drawer Craftsman. The top bin was piled with tools. The drawers of the dresser below was so piled with stuff that I did not know I had 7 paks of staples for my staple gun. 6 the same size. Now everything has its place.
And I found and got rid of, things I was not clear if or how I would every use it.
    Love this tool box.

Cheap plastic drawer slides. The soft close does not hold up. No detents on these slides. The drawers slide open as nothing holds them closed when the lid is up. Anything other than residential is a 30 day warranty. You must keep receipt to get warranty. The other place to buy boxes is a better deal.

  6. UtahJock

…the drawers are not parallel, they don’t close tightly.

  7. Tracey

I rounded up all of my tools & now they are stored securely in one place. I love the soft close drawers so the tools don’t slide around. I did add the liner to each tray & that helps too. Now that they are locked up no one can “borrow” them without my knowing where to find them. Got it on Sale too!

I am replacing my 45 year old Craftsman top box it serviced me well. Thar is why I looked for this box and I am satisfied with it. Why did I replace it? It is still serviceable and woks as it had over the years, but I need more space for my tools and I anticipate giving it to one of my grand sons or one of my great grands. Another reason was because I received the matching bottom box for Christmas, what a awesome deal!

  9. Josh

The metal is thinner than I expected.
The drawers stick and don’t glide like the ones on display at the store.
Overall it’s ok. Not sure it was worth $170.

  10. Figaro

I bought this only because the 4 drawer box has been discontinued. Am happy with it.

  11. Anonymous

Excellent addition to my garage. Deep bottom drawer a big plus.

  12. Gunsmoke

Excellent build , remember it is 12 deep not 16 as usual. Great for limited space. Still more cost effective at sale price 129 vs 199 for the 16 inch size.

  13. Bobby

The box is just the right size for my tools. The drawers slide open and close with ease. The construction seems to be of high quality.

I really like this tool chest it is a replacement for 1 that was damaged beyond what i could do so it works great

  15. YJexp

Bought this along with the bottom chest. Also see my bottom chest review. Very happy with the purchase. Perfect.

  16. MissAnn

This gift was perfect for my brother for all
His smaller tools. Several drawers for all
    his things.

  17. Lowshopper

It isn’t anywhere near the quality of a Snap On box but it is acceptable.

  18. DMDM

Craftsman has always meant great quality made in USA, still does.

  19. Jpalmer

Box had no damage but dent on lower area. not a quality product

  20. barrypicker

I have an older Craftsman Toolbox, 26 inch wide. It has 5 rows like this but the top two rows are divided into three drawers each providing a total of 9 drawers. This makes it easy to separate items to find them later. This is a nice unit but rather than have soft closing drawers I would prefer more small drawers that don’t have soft close. It seems all the Craftsman toolboxes have this soft close feature. That is not necessary and only increases the price.

  21. Cuthbert

The drawers do not close smoothly nor do they close all the way. When closed I can still see my tools. Guessing that for $129 you get a cheap shoddy product. My old Craftsman tool box is WAY BETTER than this one. Sad to see the decline in quality of Craftsman. was great for the purchase; young man went to the tip top shelf to get it!

  22. Capitalserg

Shipping was off from original date. But due to Pandemic and not being in dire need of toolbox, all was and is good

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As a professional mechanic for over 20 years i know quality tools. I tecently purchased the 2000 series tool box fpr my son as a starter box and was pleasantly surprised at how sturdy it was when we unboxed it. The ball bearing drawers and easy close slides work great.

  24. fixit

I love this toolbox! It is extreamly durable and has plenty of room to house a lot of tools. I got a great deal from and I could not be happier with my purchase. I may buy another one for my son. I would definitely recommend.

  25. JudoJohn

I bought this to enhance my tool storage. Like the other reviewer, I like the older model with 3 small drawers on top. Except for that, this is a good box, and constructed with quality. I do like the soft close drawers.

This was a good size, strength & intermediate weight of 58lbs. for my RV. Not sure about the spring piston lid supports as opposed to the usual mechanical ones though.
