[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this tool brand new about 3 months ago, we do all kinds of things on the farm from gate and fence repair to machinery repair. The CRAFTSMAN 20V impact gun lives up to it’s name and then some! It sure helps make short work of projects that took away valuable time to do now are done in a fraction of the time. The torque delivered sure makes big rust bolts come apart like nothing. As an amputee I rely on my tools a 110% to help me get the job done and Craftsman tools is reliable and there for my needs. We proudly use Craftsman tools in our shop, from our 25 year old 10″ table saw, to our new 5″ orbit sander, craftsman is there.

I’ve used air tools and battery powered tools and by fat I love the Craftsman 20v impact might as well get rid the air tools!!!

  3. Phil

Unit is pretty sturdy overall. The battery is nice and has a gauge on it to monitor power. The charger is super fast, and the gun has plenty of torque.

I’ve been wanting a set of cordless power tools for over 20 years. I didn’t actually need these and love my corded power tools, but decided to buy every one of the Craftsman cordless power tools selling at $79 a piece. I bought the impact drill, the jigsaw, the circular saw, the angle grinder, a drill with one battery (not two) and a 25′ tape measurer twin set for a total of $400 + $15 = $415, still cheaper than getting the prepackaged set with the case, plus I hand picked the tools I needed most. It was too good a price with the batteries (now 5 total) to resist and I binged and compulsively bought all four! I will worry about the credit card payments later and one day save up for a Makita or Hilty but for now this is a superb set of cordless power tools at an amazing price. I couldn’t let them go and drove to three different cities just to take advantage of the deal for $79 a piece. Can’t really go wrong, even knowing that one day these batteries will be useless and will cost me $400 to replace if they are even still available. If you are looking for longevity, stick to tools with cords. If you want portability and are looking for the best deal in cordless power tools, get the entire set individually. There is simply no better buy out there, plus it’s Craftsman with a limited lifetime warranty. How can you go wrong? Not for professional contractors but awesome for home and car improvement and repairs, especially for DIY hackers like me! The entire red cordless power set of tools is new as of 2018. Buy them. Highly recommended! I am very thankful to all the other reviewers for their comments as well! 🙂

line of Craftsman tools of all kinds. Electric, Battery and Hand Held.

This impact fit my needs perfectly! Very convenient, and powerful!

  7. Mike

Best 1/2 impact for the money in my opinion! Have used it on many different occasions and it works as it should every time!

I was so excited to finally be able to afford a cordless impact and have my mobile jobs take less time, decided to take the plunge. craftsman has always been a stand up brand in my eyes, well not this time around. Researched it and it says it has 350 ft lbs of torque, more than enough for any car repair as you typically only need 100-140 for lug nuts. Well it wouldn’t even budge a 100lb torqued bolt off the tire. Was extremely disappointed that the only purpose it was bought for wouldn’t even work. Had a full charge an decided to see what it really went to, put the lug on and held it down for 15 seconds of “impacting” and barley moved. Pulled out my digital torque bar and it clicked at 80ft lbs of torque. Major disappointment to spend $200+ on a tool an warranty only to find out that it comes short of its boasted torque by more than 200lbs less than it claims. Do not purchase this if you intend on using it for automotive repairs!!!

  9. James

I took off lug nuts on my truck and my car with ease. This item works just like the one at tire shop. I am very impressed with impact wrench. Battery lasts a long time great item!!

  10. Philip

Purchased this to supplement bringing out air tools for every thing. Haven’t had to reach for my air tools for a majority of jobs with this. Great value and quality.

  11. ric

good power for a cordless tool , took off lug nuts that have been 30 year + since last removed very happy with performance and price

  12. Mrbe

Much better than old version of impact gun holds charge longer.

  13. Donnie

Exactly what I was looking for; personal and to assist others with help with flats

First thing I noticed when I took it out of the box was that it was heavy. With battery, it clocks in at over 6 pounds. If you are expecting a lightweight wrench, this isn’t it. A good pneumatic wrench is lighter and smaller, but the tradeoff is in convenience. No air is needed and no need to wrestle a hose. It is balanced and easy to hold but that big motor makes it hard to fit into tight spaces.

It is certainly powerful enough to handle most high-torque jobs, namely wheel lug nuts. It can easily zip them off and on. It has a 350 ft-lb rating, but I think that is generous. I used it on my car wheels which are aluminum alloy. Using my own torque wrench afterwards, I was estimating an average torque down rating of 130-150 ft-lb on a fresh battery. Honestly, I never expected it to go up to 350 or I’d crack a wheel or break a lug! So, it probably won’t remove big semi truck lugs without a lot of effort.

Aside from the heft, my only wish was to be able to adjust the torque applied. You can try to squeeze the trigger just enough, but with the weight and the power it puts out, the trigger can’t be controlled enough to give consistent results.

Oh, and if you are wondering, this wrench is mechanically and somewhat visibly the same as the PORTER-CABLE PCC740LA, also sold at . I am admittedly biased towards Craftsman even though I know they are made in China and Taiwan. But my gut feeling is that the P-C model may have a few internal parts that are stronger. I hope I never need to find out.

Finally, the warranty for this is EXCELLENT. Three years limited, for both wrench AND battery. Spend another $17 for an extended warranty and you can up that to FIVE years.

Purchased this tool, just on a whim, it has the power to remove the most strubern bolts and nuts. If you need to drive a lag screw, this has the power to to that too. I was able to remove the rusty bolts a from AMC 242 flywheel assembly’s with ease using this tool. This tool surpasses an air impact wrench’s, tork when breaking free rusty bolts. Definitely a good buy on my part. We will see how it holds up in the years to come. When coming back to reassembleing, might have to much tork on bolts, for manufacturing specifications. That’s a good thing. You know you’re getting a good tight fit.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this to replace my my very old and failing air impact gun that I mostly used for tire changing on my cars and trucks. I’m currently restoring an antique Farmall tractor that has been sitting for 40 years. I had not been able to break the rear tire lugs loose with my air impact or by hand. The first job I gave my new Craftsman impact wrench was to remove those froze lugs. I was surprised how easily they came loose with this tool! It’s fairly light and the variable trigger with light is a huge bonus! So far I have yet to find a lug or bolt this won’t break free.

  17. hammer

took my lugs off my sentra with ease but would not budge the caliper bracket bolts needed to remove my rotors .not as strong as my corded kobalt with same tq rating .overall im happy and would buy again if on sale again.

  18. JopCop

I am a novice weekend warrior and look to buy tools to do the job instead of hiring a ptofeasional. I read the reviews on Lowe’s app, did my research on cordless vs pneumatic ingeneral (including cost, torque, longevity, etc), and checked corporate facts on who actually makes what under which name and where. I live in KCMO and saw where Sedalia, MO still makes Craftsman benches and metal tool storage. So I made the leap to purchase Craftsman 20v cordless tools, starting with a 2Ah battery two-pack and this impact wrench.

I am sadly dissappointed. I got home & opened and set-up the wrench and went to testing it out. It failed to loosen one lugnut on my Jeep JK!!! After removing all of one wheel’s lugs, I tested the wrench in fastening. Checking with my torque wrench, I got 80 ft-lbs out of this silly wrench.

Looks like im gonna have to invest in pneumatics.

  19. BDodd63

Bought this several months ago. Works great on tire changes, but I recently worked on an engine, and it wouldn’t break loose bolts torqued at a measly 150ft/lbs. I decided to reinstall the bolts (making sure there was no loctite previous) and torqued to 150. It wouldn’t break them loose even with a fresh off the charger battery. For reference, I borrowed a friends Milwaukee cordless impact, and it pulled them no problem. I really doubt the 350ft/lb claim from Craftsman. Anyone else test this claim? Not an automotive rookie…..

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’m a diesel mechanic by trade, my toolbox is full of SnapOn tools. I have Craftsman brand also. I purchased the V20 cordless 1/2″ impact. I was doing a clutch job using the impact to break the bolts from the transmission to the bell housing and for other connections with no problem. I also bought a second battery. This tool has pretty much replaced my air 1/2″ drive impact! When I go out on road calls ( drivers brake down somewhere) I take this tool. The Craftsman V20 cordless 1/2″ impact is a must for your toolbox!!

Fully charged battery Removed lug nut from honda civic no problem, tried to take lug bolt off of a jetta didnt even budge whatsoever worn out pneumatic ingersoll made very short work of it. Took it back to lowe’s i wish sold milwaukee, my 3/8 drive milwaukee will take wheels off

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Yes there are more powerful tools out there but for value and quality you cannot go wrong with this. I have been using this tool and the previous version for a few years now. I have used most of the other brands to include Snap-On. For the cost of this unit you cannot go wrong. I have not found a frozen bolt this couldn’t remove with the exception of large semi truck tires but neither do the higher torque drivers either. This is worth the money.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought two impact wrenches about 10 years ago .I proud of the fact that i bought the
wrenches, they have saved unknown amounts of time . From having stop & go looking for a
longer wrench for more power .I use the 1/4 inch impact for all things small , I use the 1/2
inch one for else .I have two 1/2 inch now ,I use it to change my lawn mower blades &
they can become galled from time to time but no problem for the impact .Problem solved.

  24. TruckerJon

Good impact for the money! Not as strong as the old c3 model but the battery last a lot longer but that’s just my personal opinion. Can’t go wrong with craftsmen.. have almost all of the 20v tools and they have done me well for medium duty work.. keep up the good work craftsmen! All y’all need now is a 20v grease gun!! I use my craftsmen stuff around the house and also working on my semi truck, pickup truck, and farm equipment.

  25. MistyShea

I bought this Cordless 1/2-in. Impact Wrench Kit explicitly for our camper. And it has paid for itself time and time again! Not only does it have the power to do what we need when we need but the battery last much longer than we ever expected! It always seems to be ready for work when we need it! It has great weight, fits very nice in hand and makes quick work! Definitely recommend this product!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These cordless impact wrenches are a must have if you do any type of mechanic work. My favorite use for it, is removing and installing lug nuts. Very strong, usually has no problem removing the nuts without having to break them loose first. If you don’t own this, do yourself a huge favor and invest in one. You will not be disappointed!
