My husband is on his way home with this heater that he bought at Lowe’s because I looked space heaters on the Lowe’s site and it is in the category of heats “300 square feet or greater”. I’m sitting here reading reviews and now I see a response from DeLonghi Customer Service that it only heats a much smaller space, less than half of 300 square feet! What the heck. Posting ACCURATE heating details for the products would be helpful to eliminate the effort of returning a product that does not fit our needs. And another in-person trip to the store for a return during a pandemic is quite frankly infuriating.

Bought this to keep my downstairs warm (and the location of the single thermostat in the house) while keeping the upstairs comfortably cool. It is silent while operating, but generates a good deal of heat. Easily keeps my downstairs at 70 keeping the furnace from having to run. Drop it down to 65 at night to allow the heat to only intermittently come on. When you get this, plug it in out in your garage on your porch and let it run for 18 to 24 hours to get the “new smell” off. After that, you can use without even knowing its in the room. Very safe, very stable. Took upstairs and heated up a small room in just a short time.

I have a small mountain chalet, 750 sq. feet of loft and main floor. I heat with electric baseboard heaters. ouch. The expense is astronomical. On a 30-degree low temp. night, I was able to keep the entire space (minus small enclosed bedroom) at 62 degrees with only one baseboard heater set on very low and my space heater set on 70 degrees. I am thrilled. Will buy another as soon they are in stock again. No smell at all, like other reviewer reported.

No assembly. Easy instructions. Easy Use. Can move it around on wheels while it is hot. It will pay for itself with one month of lowered electric bills.

This is not the least expensive oil heater but works well and is easy to use the controls. You can set it for a temperature and leave it, even turn it off and back on and it will keep the last setting. Easy to change any function without reading the manual. Even has 3 power settings in case you want heat fast. Can set it for a lower setting than my previous oil heater as it really does the job. I am going to replace my other $40 oil heater as it does not have a digital temperature setting, besides the $40 one takes forever to heat up.

This unit does what it promises as far as heat and thermostat, but I used this in my bedroom and the acrid fumes was so strong, it burned my eyes and throat. I thought I’d hang in there and hope it would stop smelling after I used it for a while. This was not the case. I moved it to a larger room, and I had the same problem with fumes.

I returned this item for a 100% refund, which was terrific. I bought the $69 DeLonghi without the metal panels on the side and it did not emit fumes.

I’m happy with the manufacturer and unit quality. It was only the fumes which prompted my returning the original unit.

This does not heat rooms as large as it says it does. The electronic controls are bizarre — the “temperature” has nothing to do with the temp in the room, only how hard it works to heat. It does not keep a room at a particular temperature. The number of flames also shows how hard the heater is working … in a different way. So to get heat, you have to set the temp at 80 (the highest) and put on 3 flames.
The heater took 24 hours to get the room up to anywhere near warm. The heaters point up … so we’re heating the ceiling?
Also, why does print 10 positive reviews before any negative, especially when the approval for this is only 60%?

Overall, this is a decent heater and I bought it for my bedroom at night. There was only a slight new smell for a few days that did not bother me at all and I really like the fold out wheels. The first week or so the heater was great and then the clicking problem started. There’s a “click” when the thermostat calls for heat. There’s another “click” once the desired temperature is reached. The thermostat began to cycle on and off about every 10 seconds. I sleep with a fan on for white noise but the constant clicking started waking me up. I submitted a support ticket on DeLonghi’s website and received a confirmation email. It’s been several days now and DeLonghi has not responded. I’m going to return this to and try to find something else.

I bought this heater a few weeks ago, and am very pleased with it. It heats up quickly, and the thermostat is quite accurate. We don’t have a heat duct in our kitchen, and this unit has helped a lot in warming up the work area. Some other reviewers commented about an overwhelming odor for the first several days of use. We experienced none of that….just a new appliance odor that certainly wasn’t overwhelming or strong….and, I’ve got a sensitive nose when it comes to smells. Overall, I’m totally satisfied and would recommend it to anyone.

Replaces one I had since 2007, wanted one with automatic thermostat . Love it warms my 13 x 30 room , keeps the gas bill down. Highly recommend .

Unlike the models that have mechanical switches, these digital versions don’t turn back on after the power comes back on after an outage. This forces me to have to drive back home hoping that power is back on to turn it back on to protect the pipes from freezing. Whereas the models with mechanical switches resume heating just as soon as the power comes back on. This is a major flaw in my opinion.

We have two of these units in our home. One in the front of the house (living room and dining room) where the thermostat is. And one in the attic/master bedroom… We live in a somewhat unevenly heated 93 y.o. house…
We keep one of these heaters in-between the living room and the dining room (8.5′ tall ceilings in this 500sqft area). It sits about 6ft from the front door and about 9ft from the thermostat. If we did not use this unit the furnace (set to 69º) would come on only a few minutes after it turns off. With this unit set to high and on 69 or 70º, depending on how cold it is outside, the furnace works on a better cycle, the front of the house is more comfortable and the back of the house (smaller rooms) are not to warm. So using one to augment furnace system and/or thermostat placement issues in an old house is working great.
We keep a second unit up in the attic, set to high on 71º and it heats the whole 425sqft area (with a wide 9.5′ ceiling area) to a pleasing comfortable level. This area is generally heated and cooled with a ductless/split system Mitsubishi unit. To save the Mr. Slim unit, we turn it off at night, pop on this unit and go to sleep…
Yes, there is a ‘bonk’ or a ‘tink’ every so often but it does not keep me or my wife up at night. Maybe we are good sleepers and are lucky this way… So, for smaller closed in areas or for augmenting slightly larger areas, they work great… But do not expect them to “fully” heat a large area. It is a slow heating process but works well and with no fan noise.
All in all I am happy with both of these units. Even though one had to go back for replacement due to a very small, slight leak of the oil (viewed on the hardwood floor under the unit). I just didn’t want the thing having a low oil level after a couple years or so of use.
