I thought this was going to be a fairly easy update to our downstairs bathroom. We started taking off the existing shower and tub hardware and realized that it was not going to simply be a matter of undo the old and replace with the new parts. Our current tub hardware was installed when the bathroom was renovated right down to the studs and everything was exposed in 2002. It is all copper tubing that is soldered. We have a one-piece tub/surround which is wonderful since there are no seams to calk and keep clean but we would have had to cut into the fiberglass of the shower wall and make a big hole to accommodate the new valve assembly. We certainly are not going to do that and ruin the tub. I am going with the save the product and give it to my daughter and son-in-law who just purchased a home and are doing a whole house renovation. They can use it in the second bathroom. The product itself is attractive with a brushed nickel finish. While the shower head, and faceplate are all made of metal, they do seem kind of flimsy. The handle is actually quite heavy and is metal also. The tub spout appears to be made of plastic. The valve that goes inside the wall is quite heavy and appears to be made well. We can’t say how well the shower head works, but the adjustment between settings on the head seems easy and clicks into place. I would not recommend buying this product before doing some research on your pipes and existing plumbing fixtures. It looks nice but I am slightly disappointed with the quality and the use of a lot of plastic.

This is a high quality and well put together faucet kit. The brushed finish is very nice, without any blemishes that I saw. The shower head has several different selectable spray patterns, with good flow.

This kit is somewhat DIY’able, depending on if it is a new install, replacing a different brand faucet set, or replacing a Delta faucet set. I was fortunate with my install that I was replacing another Delta faucet set, so I was able to reuse the existing multi-port valve and valve cartridge, without requiring the water be shut off. If you need to install the multi-port valve, valve cartridge, or need pipe fittings installed, you will need a plumber and also need to have your water shut off during the install since your pipes will be open. Depending on your bathtub and shower pipes access, you may need your walls opened up in order to access those pipes.

The tools I needed were a Phillips screwdriver, adjustable pliers, a razor blade, a roll of thread sealant tape, silicone grease, caulk, and a scouring pad.

A few tips to pass along:
    – In order to avoid scratching the new shower pipe, install the new flange on the pipe first on the end that goes into the wall before you install it. It is easier to install that way as well.
    – Using a wood dowel or pliers handle on the inside of the shower pipe will help in tightening it without scratching the outer surface of the pipe.
    – Use a few wraps of sealant tape on all threaded connection to prevent leaks.
    – Regular dish soap works well as an O ring lubricant if you don’t have any silicone grease.
    – The razor blade and scouring pad makes short work of removing old caulk.

This faucet set comes with everything you need to swap out or install new. Looks great and if you already have a delta faucet after 2006 all you have to do is basically swap the cartridge out and screw on the handle. I did have to go buy a new over flow cover to go with it because it doesn’t come with one. I couldn’t find an exact match at my but it’s close enough for now and it all look and works great.

This review is for the Delta Becker Spotshield Brushed Nickel 1-Handle Bathtub and Shower Faucet with Valve. Very nice design and comes with everything necessary to install it from scratch (rough-in, etc.). The shower head is versatile and easy to use (there is no handheld attachment). It does have a water restrictor that can be removed. The instructions are fairly easy to follow. While most of the components are metal, the spigot is 100% plastic. I’m not a fan of plastic components, hence the 3 stars. I’m somewhat disappointed in Delta as their quality appears to be declining.

Delta is easy to work with for warranty, but who has time for warranties and repair, I would rather see less plastic and more durable long lasting cleanable surfaces. The tub faucet, shower head including the female pipe thread on both is plastic. I do not forsea the surface staying very attractive after a few periodic cleanings of soap deposits and mineral deposits. Probably fine for a low use guest area, but for a family I would rather purchase all metal.

I know plastic is way cheaper than metal, but it seems like almost everything on this is made of plastic. I’d say that the only metal parts are the handle, trim ring, valve housing and shower pipe. The spout might be metal but it was hard to tell. I just worry that if someone scrubs this they’ll cut through the plastic ‘finish’ and reveal the underlying black plastic. Otherwise the styling is nice, I’m a sucker for a nickel finish. I do like how the spout attaches to the pipe coming from the wall. There is an ‘adapter’ that you put onto the pipe from the wall. This adapter has an o-ring on it and the spout has several inches of threads which aren’t tapered. This way you don’t have to be dead on with the length of the pipe from the wall as the spout just keeps screwing on until it hits the wall. So much better than having to hope you get the wall pipe length right.

Good illustrations in both Owners and Spout Manuals covering copper, iron and pex installation.
Delta changed it’s single lever control valve inlets from female to male, using standard 0.5″ threads. Owners Manual shows some of the tools needed, the kit has allen wrenches and a brass cap nut if either the tub spout or shower are not used. Kit lacks the 4 fittings needed to install any type pipe you are using. They do not show any fitting tools or connectors for iron, copper or pex pipe. You will need the 4 adaptors to connect the pipes, a short nipple for the tub spout and teflon tape. The kit does include a unique adapter to change the spouts 1″ threaded hole to 0.5″ for the nipple.
Shower has 5 setting, 4 for spray patterns and one to relieve water pressure while not showering to help keep water temperture constant.
I like the Brushed Nickel for its ability to eliminate water stains.

Do you ever get an idea and follow through with some of the steps of making that idea come to fruition only to find out that it is not going to be as straightforward as you had planned? Welcome to our experience with this tub and shower valve. I thought this was going to be a fairly smooth update to our guest/hall bathroom, but as we started taking off the existing shower and tub hardware, we almost immediately realized that it was not going to simply be a matter of undo and replace. Our mid 80s built home is not plumbed for 2020 valve fixtures. We are going to have to either cut into the fiberglass of the shower wall to accommodate the new fixtures or save the product for when we have the time and money to completely replace the whole shower unit and will be able to make a hole in the wall to house the cartridge and value. I am going with the save the product until I am ready for the much bigger and expensive process of a bathroom overhaul.

The product itself is modern and sleek with a smooth brushed nickel finish. While the shower head, handle, and faceplates are all made of metal, albeit thin metal, the tub spout is not. It is made of plastic. I suppose this is where the the SpotShield claim might be verified as water is not going to readily leave spots on plastic. Unfortunately, I cannot speak to how well the shower head works in action, but the adjustment between settings on the head provides a nice and satisfying audible click with not much force required.

As a result of our experience, I would not recommend buying this product before doing preliminary research and scouting out of your pipes and existing plumbing fixtures.

Overall the appearance and design of this shower set is appealing. The sleek design in the downspout is pleasing to the eye. The water flow seems adequate and the flow options are good. The install was simple and quick. Good value for the prices I have seen.

Great product with a classic look that can fit a traditional or modern setting. Easy to install and includes the valve as well. Spot shield comes with it which has proved to work. All in all a good product

I hope this review gets accepted, I am having a bathroom installed in my dog grooming cabin but they have not started on it yet! This bathroom shower and tub set is the cat’s meow… Spotshield technology and a lifetime warranty. Cannot beat that! All the equipment for installation is included in the box. I cannot wait to get my new bathroom built in the grooming cabin and guest house and have this beautiful shower/tub ensemble installed. I love it!

Delta has always made great fixtures and this is no different. I love the color as well. It’s not too shiney. It has the tub and shower fixture with different speeds and sprays. I haven’t been able to install it yet because my husband has been working out of town so much this year. I attached pics to see what’s included. I know Delta’s reputation and I know you won’t be disappointed. I would recommend to others.
