I have literally owned more than 10 cordless drills in my life using them both for business and home use but now I find (at 77) I have a hard time tightening & loosening the chuck…with the ease of inserting & releasing the bit on the 1/4 ” impact I find myself back into woodworking projects again.

Just bought this product online and waited for my email stating I could come get it. I drove 50 miles to this location due to needing the tool immediately. I was sold a used returned impact, 2 porter cable 20v batteries and a new dewalt charger… So not only am I out gas and time I still lack the desired equipment I need and purchased. Now I have to return it and wait three to seven days before being able to get a replacement. Thanks way to put the customer first!

  3. Logan

I purchased the dewalt impact driver to add to the dewalt drill I owned. Now I can have a drill and a driver without having to keep switching out bits on my drill. Since I already had a dewalt drill with 2 batteries, I now have 3 batteries with 2 dewalt products.

As for the performance: the impact driver does what it needs to and drives screws without stripping the screw heads. This version only has a single light.

It’s fairly light weight and very comfortable.

I would’be gone with a different brand if I didn’t already have a dewalt cordless product. But it has already served me well and I hope it lasts long after the warranty.

Replaced my old impact driver with this baby while on sale. Lighter than my previous model but just as strong. Great price for the kit, including battery, during Christmas, so bought a 2nd one to replace my 12v. Use the small batteries primarily for my flashlights.

  5. Denny

I also purchased this product and discovered it didn’t have the 3 LEDs it said in the description. I took it back and explained it didn’t have the 3 lights it stated in the description. They replaced it with the one that has the 3 LEDs but was still the same gun ,just it had a different model # and was more expensive. Thank you , you always take care of your customers. P.S ,and it’s made in the U.S.A.

    Good Day All!

Like to start by saying, that DeWalt is by fare the way to go! But as fare as the basic 20V max to the 20v max XR there are little to no defiance.
The basic is what it is and will do the same job as the more expensive XR modals that have the same spec, for torque and durability.
The XR modals do have some more Bells and Wessels than it counters part that are seldom used., but are nice for bragging rights.
So if you are looking for a tool that will get it done or bragging rights to a family member or neighbor.
Buy a DeWalt and show off that pretty yellow and black case.

  7. My crib

Love the power and the 2 batteries

  8. Swanny

It’s a impact with the smallest batteries they make in the 20v with no charge indicator on the front and of course like most DeWalt stuff I seem to buy it’s missing the belt clip the 7 1/4″ saw I purchased was missing the rip fence it was supposed to come with and as a bonus it can’t cut wood without bogging down and stopping these the change indicator on the battery, belt clip rip fence these little things were why I used to buy DeWalt this being my 3rd impact in the last 2 years and now I have a bad clutch in one of my atomic brushless drills that is a few weeks out of the 1 year warranty 2 bad batteries now i just feel that DeWalt sliding on quality and you never get a good deal there

7/12/2018 I just bought this brushless impact driver today for $99+Tax. This tool has an average quality. Made in China . 1x Battery 1.3Ah (NOT an 1.5Ah as listed on the description). Battery is made in Malaysia. The impact driver has only 1 LED light ( NOT 3 as listed on the description). Lowe’s need to make sure the detail description accurate since the above 2 items were incorrectly posted. If I have known the truth about those descrepancies, I probably will not get it.

I purchased this tool to install vinyl siding in an area that has very high wind using 1 inch SS hex screws with a 5/16 nut setter. A little over 6000 screws were installed and it never missed a beat! It being compact made it easy to get into tight places. I rotated the 2 batteries that comes with it and “never” had to stop due to lack of power. The fast trigger also made it easy to set the screws the proper depth. I am not a contractor but we did have some working nearby and came to see what we were doing and were very impressed with how fast the installation went. I too am impressed with this tool and how well the batteries held up.

Love this Drill, had the same one but someone took it…. 100

It’s a quarter inch rotary tool, with impact function. It’s small, light, and maneuverable. I was able to drive 4″ x #10 construction screws with ease. Impact function engages at the end of screw travel, as rotary effort increases. Removed some #8 Allen Head Machine Screws that had been over torqued. Of the 8 stuck screws, 5 came out without issue. There were the remaining three, that had been driven beyond stupid. The impact driving force stripped the Allen Bit, and removed most of the screw bit surface. Had to resort to drilling, and an easy out. No fault of the tool, but it indicates there’s plenty of power, to ruin an improperly driven screw. I won’t be using this driver for anything heavy. 5/16 hardware, might be beyond this tools capability.

A friend said as many wood screws as I drive, I should look into getting an impact driver. I asked, “but I’ve been using a Dewalt 7.2v Dewalt cordless screwdriver for many years and it is a SCREWdriver. Why pay for something else to drive screws?” He said screwdrivers truly have their place but assured me I’d enjoy an impact driver. So I bought this impact driver and I was amazed how much faster I can set a screw than with my screwdriver. One quick zip of the trigger on this impact driver and the screw is in. A word of caution, though: It takes a little practice to know when to back off on the trigger before you over-drive your screws. It’s a powerful tool and there’s no clutch/torque setting adjustment. It’s up to your own finger pressure to “feather in” the screw’s final resting depth. In that regard, I do miss the adjustable torque setting ability of the screwdriver, but this impact driver drives a screw in the blink of an eye. As for my old 7.2v driver, I love the thing and I still use it a lot as a companion to my new impact driver. An impact driver cannot totally take the place of a cordless screw driver but in many areas it out-shines the screwdriver.

I bought for driving screws and minor mechanical work. it will NOT drive a 3 inch deck screw without timing out for about 10 seconds to reset. wouldn’t loosen 14mm caliper bolts on car. I grabbed my old 18V Dewalt drill and drove about 75 deck screws without a blip. I expected mote from Dewalt. returning next trip. even at $80, not worth it.

  15. Jesse1

Just used this Dewalt impact driver to drive about 2000 screws in a deck for a client. Worked like a champ!

  16. markanthony

This Dewalt is a great little impact for doing small jobs around the house or Automotive work. It even has enough power to remove the Lug nuts on a car. I give it two thumbs up.

  17. Rick

Bought impact driver online, when I received it I went to to ask for a veterans discount, three days later received discount on my bank statement. Longest screw I’ve used driver on is a 6in, worked great, better than my drill, thank you

  18. Jose

It is a great impact and the price was great as well

  19. CP3

Perfect impact driver for everyday household DIY projects and ocassional heavy duty ones. It can handle anything because of the 20V battery and the brushless motor which can take the stress!

  20. CC

Good drive to start with. Enough power to do most DYI work.

  21. Rhett

This model does not have 3 LEDs as stated in the description. I was somewhat disappointed, but still feel it’s a good deal.

  22. Tommy

This is a nice impact tool for the money. you get 2 batteries. It works well for the building of my deck.

  23. jwait

Cant beat DeWalt tools. Great item! My second one. First lasted five years of rough use. Highly recommend.

  24. Parbob

Great tools work like quality tools should work
    I highly recommend
