Just got this after the price went down to $99 and having a $20 off coupon. So it was a good deal. Great power and definitely faster and lighter than my older Bosch 12V impact. Love the feel and weight of the unit, perfect for 80% of the tasks you need. I was debating between this and the screwdriver but the higher RPM and precision drive feature made me choose this. An impact driver has more versatility as well. The batteries finally have a fuel gauge on them if you get the newer 2ah and up. You have to engaged the driver to actual change between modes as well. I do notice one small issue that the chuck wobbles alot with a bit in it when you initiate the unit especially when you’re not driving any screws in. You can even play with the chuck and notice it’s loose, not sure if that is a design feature. That is my only complaint so far.

Very comfortable and lightweight to carry in my tool belt all day. Nice and bright light and very ergonomic!

I purchased this impact driver after watching VCG Construction do a Youtube review. Now I already have a Milwaukee M12 Fuel Gen 2 impact driver that I like a lot. But this thing coming in a full kit w/ 2 batteries and charger for less than half as much?!? The Milwaukee has more fine tuned features, but the Dewalt is ergonomically superior, and more pleasant to use. If you aren’t locked into a brand because of batteries and chargers, I’d recommend the This Dewalt. Pains me to say it, but there it is.

Local store has 12 volt DCF801 on operational display with a 2×4 and deck screws. Tried device several times. Amazed at the light weight yet extremely strong power. Reluctant to purchase 12 volt impact driver since have 2 Ridgid 18 volt drivers – another different charger. Bought DCF801. Now reluctantly use the other drivers since DCF801 is so extremely light and powerful. First used to install ripped down 2×4 stud extenders onto 2x4s studs with 1/2″ dry wall on top. Friend helped. Both “blown away” by how fast and securely DCF801 drove #10 3-1/2″ deck screws into 2x4s and #6 1-5/8″ sheet drywall screws. 12 volt battery “just keeps on going.” 3 lights provide brilliant focused lighting. Friend immediately purchased DCF801. This tool is amazing for its power and being so light weight and small! Thank you Dewalt and .

  5. Migz

Has some great power to it. Was considering getting the atomic but it’s just as compact and just as powerful that it wasn’t needed. I use it daily and has been flawless

  6. Yeehaw

Purchased this product after being tired of my 18v Skil drill constantly dying after using it for an hour or so. Whether it was taking down curtains, installing blinds, or hanging art, the drill never seemed to keep up. Enter this impact driver. I purchased this in preparation of buying a home and all of the general things that need to be removed, fixed, or put together. This has handled the odd screw that wont drive in or come out or your general hanging of blinds, etc.

At time of purchase, battery came pre-charged, and put it on the charger before a day of adding/removing things all over the new house. It has handled two weeks of constant work without needing a charge. The battery has lasted so long it makes me wonder if the bits I bought separately might not last as long as this battery!

What I love is that it is light, the LEDs illuminate things incredibly well, and my spouse can use this with no issues. So, if you are looking for something to put together furniture, drive in screws into a door frame for a new door deadbolt, driving in construction screws for updating shoddy work that came before you then I highly recommend it. I am not a contractor, just a weekend warrior fixing things. Time will tell on how long it lasts and how much I love it but, for right now, I love it.

Don’t be fooled by small size, weight, and price (purchased for $99). This has plenty of power to screw drywall screws into 2×4’s. The clutch is perfect for assembling furniture kits since it allows you to dial down the power and not over tighten screws in MDF. Batteries also seem to last a long time…and you get two of them. Really glad I got this to supplement my other ‘overpowered’ and relatively heavy 20v tools.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this impact driver about 1 week ago. I have the 20 volt system but wanted something smaller for finish work. I used this impact driver to install some composite trim around my garage. I am very impressed on how much power this thing
has and on how light weight it is. I installed about 174’ of 1×8 trim with 2” nails and I had no issues. The batteries were amazing as well they kept up on a single charge. I call it Mighty Mouse.

  9. Tmak

This impact is the perfect size for most people including lots of trades folks. Lots of torque, good battery and great price. I am glad Dewalt is in the 12v space with this subcompact. It will do anything you need it to.

  10. Nullzip

I am a 40 year old female and when using a tool all day, it is a wonderful bonus when it’s lightweight. These newer batteries have push button display that tells you the amount of charge, which is another bonus, so I can change it out and don’t start on an low or empty battery.

  11. ZialFPS

Thing’s pretty powerful. It can drive lags and long deck screws, though not as fast as the 20v. It’s compact and the batteries are small and convenient. I carry this one everywhere with me and leave the 20v in the garage unless I really need it.

  12. Evbit

This product is perfect for what I needed. Easy to use, enough power.

  13. Will

Bought this for a long term jobsite so I don’t have to haul mine back and forth. Works well, holds charge for a while and so far has put in several 3″deck screws without slowing down. I like the battery level indicator as well.

    LOve it

  15. JMillz

I purchased this to replace my old impact drill of another brand after moving across the country and into a home that my wife and Are in the process of upgrading. This drill is compact yet powerful and fits in spaces where my other drill couldn’t. The belt holder is also one of the best and most convenient things I’ve experienced. I might have to find an excuse to purchase more dewalt products!

  16. HandEMann

Check the dimensions – this is a small tool, but with a hand grip which I can comfortably use with my XL hands. Controls on top of the tool allow use as a battery-operated screw-driver without impact. The other two settings are “Lo” and “High”. The two batteries each include a button for displaying the charge level. I have not used this tool a lot, but the very similar torque clutch screwdriver, DCF 610, which uses the same 12V batteries, will drive a lot of screws on a single battery charge. That tool is my most used power tool. The charger will charge both 12V and 20V DeWalt batteries. I do not recommend keeping the batteries in the charger all the time, they will die even with infrequent use. To prevent battery failure, I plugged the charger into a Belkin F7C009 set to energize the outlet for six hours each time I push the button. When I put a battery in the charger, I push the button. Six hours later, the battery is charged, the charger is deenergized, and I just leave the battery in the charger. This idea works great for other battery chargers, also…

Love using the compact series as compared to the full size. You lose a bit of performance with the 12 volt but it is still powerful enough to get jobs done around the house

  18. Gunny

Had been looking for an impact wrench, and then found this bundled brushless package with dual batteries. Saved the day, installing lag bolts in fence gate.

  19. Mendozaisone

Great tool and If you already have dewalt tools you can purchase without a battery. Works great, strong and quick pick up option from any store and it’s free!

  20. Dicky

Does the job. Was initially concerned regarding power, but does the job. Very light weight.

This isn’t one of those huge drivers, which can be good and bad. I need this for driving about 500 screws, and I can tell you that after about 100 screws, a big driver just gets heavier and heavier. This driver won’t do that. I’d get a couple more batteries though.
