The 3/8 12v impact is awesome for me. I have bigger ones but this is. Nice for things that are normally tightened to 100 or less ft/lbs or so. Hope they come out with a 12v ratchet! Not as powerful as the 12v milwaukee stubby but almost 1/3 the cost. Pic next to 20v drill for comparison.

I have used this impact wrench for many different applications while I was doing a Head Gasket jobber on a buddys truck. It is very light weight and powerfull for its size. Batteries last a long time (still on the first one). I feel this is the perfect go-to gun to get most any screw or fastner started with its hi and low torque settings. It did very well on the VCG, Oil Pan, Intake Manifold and Head Bolts just to get them all set before I used my torque wrench. I am so impressed with it, I will be buying the 1/2” 20V version to assist where this had its limitations.

just finished fixing a 94 ranger that got rear ended, and this thing got loose all of the rusty exhaust bolts, rear bumper bolts, transmission bolts, frame bolts…. it made the job so much easier! I am very impressed with this tool!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve got most of the impact tools from DeWalt and they all work great. The 3/8s drive impact is perfect for nuts and bolts, lag screws, just about anything you need to use it for. It has plenty of power for the automotive jobs I have used it on. I use the 5.0a batteries and this tool lasts a long time before having to change out batteries. I did a lift kit and differential rebuild on my Jeep using mostly the 3/8 and 1/2 in impacts and they handle the task with ease.

I bought this after purchasing the Xtreme impact driver, which I love by the way. Sadly I couldn’t get past the Hog Ring sticking issue. I know others have complained about this online, but I didn’t realize just how bad it would be. Even after greasing the ring and trying multiple sockets I couldn’t get a single one to come off without force and cursing like a sailor. I returned the wrench the next day and decided to stick with using a socket adapter on the impact driver. I hope others have better luck as I enjoy the size, weight, and overall design.

This extreme impact performs quite well. I am in the auto repair field & I use it on almost all of my jobs. Batteries last quite a while on a full charge. Great buy for the price.

This wrench is well made and produces 125 ft-lbs of fastening torque. Fastening torque is the important spec not breakaway or nut-busting torque which is usually calculated using a hot fastener. This unit is comfortable in the hand with a very helpful bright led light ring and it will get into tight spaces if working on vehicles. This is perfect for smaller jobs, not the best choice for heavy suspension work, truck lug nuts or removing axle nuts but it is sufficient for many jobs. At the current pricing would be very hard to beat.

After reading several mixed reviews I decided to purchase one and try it out myself. This little impact was able to break loose 150ft lb lug nuts. Max torque is spec’d at 200ft lbs or 2400in lbs. at which this tool is rated to do half of its max which is 100ft lbs. There are bad reviews but I assume that these bad reviewers are expecting to break loose 200ft lbs. There are a lot of variables that go into what an impact can do…ex. using impact sockets or extensions. I also found that using the first mode/ precision wrench mode worked stronger than on high mode. I torqued all lug nuts to 150ft lbs and the battery worked the same throughout…no matter if it had three bars or just one…I busted the myth of the battery having to be at 100% to get full power. It’s a great little tool that can do majority of what needs to get done. Of course this is not the impact for big jobs…get a big impact for that. Can’t go wrong getting this for a hundred dollars with two batteries, a charger and a free 5ah battery.

Very powerful in a compact size. I have the 3/8 impact in the 20v size as well and this 12v version is smaller and a little more powerful. Really nice for tight areas.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve owned this impact since it was released and it’s one of my favorite kits I have from DeWalt no question if it’s worth the cost it paid for itself the first job I needed it. I have had great results upgrading to the 3ah battery I find its a good tool for 170ftlb and below the ergonomics are so well thought out I find myself wanting to use it more and more I really like that they have change the led to a bluer light it increases visibility in automotive work greatly. Would recommend this to anyone it’s a great deal.

Tool works great for smaller jobs makes it faster the tool is light weight and batteries seam to last a good while

This little guy isn’t going to help change your tires, but it’s great for doing smaller installations. I’ve only had this a week and I’ve already used it to replaced washer and dryer motors, run lag bolts on deck supports, and small engine work. The thing I like most is the auto clutch that increases torque for break speed and slows down to prevents run off. When driving bolts and fasteners it pauses for a second before increasing torque. Nifty little feature to keep nuts from shooting across the floor and prevent lag bolts from shifting.

I have many ryobi 18v line tools. But I wanted something compact. I also had 12v ryobi drill. But Lowe’s had drill/impact driver combo kit on sale and I got them. I used them and loved them. So I decided to add this wrench in the collection. It was $79 for bare tool which is extremely inexpensive for the tool. I already have 12v extreme battery. I had used Bosch 12v before Dewalt and I was not satisfied. I even got rid of ryobi 12v drill to my son. Great 12v collection for great price (not literally, not meaning of expensive).

The specs for this item on website says 200ftlbs. In the onwers manual says something closer to 120 ftlbs.

  26. Me not you

Wouldnt run lug nut off that was torqued to 130lbs. I like it but my expectations were too high.

  27. Danav

I care the 12 volt tools in my truck box. Fit in my bag better and lighter to carry This will remove lug nuts and be very handy. Great with 2 amp hour battery

  28. Nike

Great impact, good quality and good price. With good warranty. My only complaint is that its not very powerful. Didnt realize it was a compact version and not a full size one. For example, this unit couldnt even break loose lug nuts on my civic. Which is why i wanted it to begin with.. shud have got the bigger one.

  29. Shawn

Specifications on the website says 200 ft-lbs max and the manual that came with it says 125 ft-lbs max.
