Battery does not last more then 1 hour. After the 1 hour time the battery needs to be charged.

Nice trimmer and battery life is great. I did my whole yard (1.5 hours) and still have juice.

You still have to be patient with bigger branches. And anything like 3/4 of an inch or an inch it’s going to have a hard time chewing through it but if it’s not too tough I’ll get through it. Remember to cut closer to the base not at the tip for big branches. The tip is only made for smaller branches.

First let me say I’m 67 years old and in very good shape. I had been trimming my shrubs with a early 1990 Echo gas powered hedge trimmer for ever. I had to start and stop while trimming my 38 very mature shrubs. I was able to trim all my shrubs on one charge with only one break in-between. No back or shoulder pain afterwards. Battery power is never ending. I wanted to see how much juice was left in the battery by running my EGO 650 blower with the supplied 2.5ah battery and got 15 minutes run time after doing all the trimming. Awesome machine. My only wish is that it came with 3rd Generation battery which has the gage. Don’t delay, buy one!

I believe reviews should after 1 year of working with a product that will wear and depending on its material makeup…how it fairs with the day in day out of gettin used and banged up.
But, I will write for this E-go product as the trimmer and blower have served me well for the last year.
I am able to do about 10-12 4’x5’x4’ hedges on a full charge and then some depending on density and since I’m not doing multiple homes this serves me well.
The cut is smooth and cuts branches about a half inch or so, no problem.
I enjoy it better than the 22” 20v 5ah dewalt based on balance, weight, battery life and ease of use.

This thing is great so far, very powerful and the battery is long lasting, haven’t run out of power yet and I have quite a few shrubs and bushes I trim monthly. Highly recommend!

  6. Johnnyhomeowner

    1. It does have a lot of power and cuts through almost 1″ thick branches fairly easy.
    2. It is kind of a positive and negative on the 24″ cutting bar as it is nice when you need that much reach but kind of cumbersome cutting shorter stuff.
    3. The trimmer itself is fairly lightweight but when you attach the battery it becomes quite heavy (I do have the biggest battery that EGO sells).
    4. I am a 75 year old man (in pretty good shape) and I was able to use it without trouble. I have the 21″ supercut EGO mower as well and I really like it too.

Overall I give this unit a 8.0 out of 10 score and would recommend this trimmer.

My wife is the new hedge trimmer! She really likes the new eGO! Its not too heavy at all for her. She says it sure beats not dragging all that electric ext. cord around! Very smooth cut! No need to go over it again and again.

  8. X1713annie

Bought silicone spray for the blade..works beautifully..very smoothe. Did all my bushes and holly hedge in a matter of minutes.

This trimmer in one word is a “BEAST”. Plenty of power…

Had a cordless Ryobi hedge trimmer and replaced it with this. I trimmed every hedge I own on a single charge and was blown away by the smoothness of the cut. My old trimmer never cut this smooth. I’m a 75 year old woman and was concerned that the combined weight of the trimmer, with the battery mounted, would be too heavy for me to manage. It was not. And the only other concern I had was that both hands had to be on the handles pressing triggers and that this would somehow limit my reach (my bushes are mature and very big). No problem at all and I now have appreciation for those safety features which my old trimmer did not have.

  13. Chad

Battery dated 7 months before purchase wouldn’t take a charge. Needed to contact EGO and then wait for them to send a new battery. They said it was idle too long between charges. What’s going to happen when I don’t use mine between November and May? I hate the cost/lifespan of batteries for these types of tools but cordless is so much easier. Hopefully this battery will last. Fingers crossed.

So far I’ve used the blower and hedge clippers but not the trimmer. Good power on each. Charge level indicator on the battery itself seems to be a nice feature I see myself using a lot.

I have numerous trees & hedges that need trimming, i’ve been a fan of EGO battery products now for several years.
I own a string trimmer and chainsaw from them. Trimmer arrived today so i unboxed it and decided to test it out.

I expected the hedge trimmer to have more power than it does but it worked well on my test.
I used the trimmer to cut back 1/4″ old bamboo shoots that were tough enough to give my hand clippers a difficult time and even chipped an expensive kitchen knife I foolishly decided to test on them.

It’s very light without a battery, with a 2.5 amp hour battery (I have larger units in the garage) it packs plenty of run time for a modest sized yard and doesn’t weight much with the battery on. The bar gives me reach I couldn’t achieve with hand tools.
Noise level and vibration are close to non-existent and no hearing protection is required.
The fact that it doesn’t have oil or gas in it, means you can position this upside-down or at any angle needed for trimming jobs. The handle & activation buttons are well thought out.

Good product, room for improvement but it does the job! I only wish the motor was more vigorous and it had a 36″ bar.

Battery was smaller than the one I purchased the year before which means it will have less and less life, I would rather they charged $10 more and sold it with the best battery than keeping the price the same and downsizing the battery.

  16. JLJolly

I have a corded Greenworks hedge trimmer and it works fine and has lasted a long time BUT our hedges are ~200 feet from a 110 volt outlet, and that’s a lot of extension cord to haul around.

This EGO cordless trimmer now makes it a breeze to trim my hedges and trees, and with the 5 AMP battery I have lots of long lasting power and I don’t have to worry about a power cord.

I already have the EGO string trimmer (w/ wonderful brushless motor) and my new EGO cordless 16″ chainsaw is supposed to arrive today. I am really loving this 56V battery system with one 5 AMP battery runs all three of these tools!

  17. New Ace customer

Purchased batter only because I had two batteries. Charged both up after the winter to trim. One ran trimmer for about 15 minutes. The other ran for about 15 seconds. That battery is 3 years and 3 months old. I inquired about returning barely used trimmer to purchase trimmer with battery. I was beyond the 30 day outdoor equipment return window. That is such a lazy policy. Anyone could see the tool was barely used (15 minutes). The fact that someone could use a tool all day every day for 29 days and return, but you can’t return a tool that sat in the garage for 60 days is ridiculous.
