This is my first choice. GE is very reliable brand. I like the finish and toughness of this product. So satisfied with what I bought.

All I can say is WOW!! I’ve owned GE – General Electrics products in the past. Actually I’m finally owning my own, as most products were bought and owned by my grandmother. She highly favored GE products. This GE Stainless Steel ThermalCarafe Drip coffee maker is the best. Out of the box it’s a no brainers. Not a lot of gadgets to fiddle with. You plug it in, set the time, as simple as that. The controls are easy to figure, from deep brew, to light brew. After making a great batch of coffee, it goes into an automatic warming setting. One of the best parts is you never have to buy a filter. Genius! Who wants to have to invest in filters every month or week, depending on your usage. I also love the fact that it has an auto cleaning system as well. After 80 cycles of usage, it cleans itself. It has a water level gauge on the right so you know if you have to refill the water. I actually use it to make Chai Lattes. I often switch off coffee grounds and use loose chai tea leaves. It’s left up to your creativity that allows you to make all those special coffee drinks from those big named coffee houses. This can do the job. I like that the carafe is stainless steel as it fits with my kitchen decor. Also, even though the coffee maker keeps the coffee warm for 2hrs, after it turns off, the carafe is thermal which means the coffee will continue to stay warm for a few more hours. GE will always be a part of my household

So many of the coffee makers these days are chock-full of features and are so bulky and take up so much space of your countertop. This one is not only simple but looks great at the same time. My only complaint of this unit is if you use the carafe to fill the water reservoir of the coffee maker, you have to almost turn the carafe upside down to get all of the water out. The design of the top prevents you from being able to do it properly without spilling coffee over your unused grounds. Therefore you have to empty most of the carafe into the reservoir and stop early and empty the rest of the water into the sink to avoid spillage. I highly recommend the unit anyway. My daughter said it looked bougie (sp?) haha!

  4. Plutocycle

I love the styling and functionality of the GE Coffeemaker with stainless carafe. But the warming plate only stays warm while brewing and coffee doesn’t stay hot in the carafe as long as I would like, certainly not 2 hours as described. Also it’s virtually impossible to pour the last ounce or two of coffee because of the squared off shape of the top interior of the carafe. You have to turn the carafe completely upside down and then the coffee comes out the fill port, going all over the counter. I still like the coffee maker and I would have given five stars if it weren’t for these small annoyances.

  5. 7619shirl

The heating element only gets lukewarm. The design of the carafe makes it difficult to pour the last amount of coffee in it because there is a large, overlapping lip. I think its a poor design. Pouring the water into the reservoir makes it easy to spill over the sides because of the poor design.

I have nothing to object, i simply bought it because I have been using them for a long time, with confidence and so far I have not had any problems.

  7. AntisocialButterfly

I love this coffee maker. I’ve always had just a basic coffee maker, and didn’t think I needed anything fancy, but boy, was I wrong! Firstly, just the design is beautiful and modern. It makes my kitchen look better just sitting on the counter lol. Let’s talk about the auto brew function! What a game changer! I wake up to coffee ready for me! I love it! And the carafe us insulated so nicely, I take it right into my home office with me everyday to keep my cup full, and it stays hot for a good, long time. I also love the cleaning function. Just the press of a button takes all the legwork out of cleaning the machine. This coffee maker is just divine!

  8. Happy Bunny

I love the thermal feature. Vacuum sealed, with double walls, it keeps optimal temperature for a long time. The carafe has a nice spout, and large opening for easy cleaning. Be sure to thoroughly wash the manufacturing oils off the brew basket and the reservoir. Then run a few brew cycles with just water before your first true brew.
The design is sleek and matches my kitchen so well.
Coffee stays steaming hot for up to 5 hours and warm up to 12 hours. Amazing! It doesn’t taste burnt because it doesn’t sit on a hot burner for hours like the old style coffee makers. I have zero complaints about this coffee maker. I highly recommend!

  9. Coffeeholic

All of my appliances are general electric. Very happy with them. When I saw the General Electric stainless steel carafe coffee maker I purchased one. Makes great coffee. First coffee maker the heating plate did not work they replaced it for me. Second coffee maker later just stopped working. I am now on my third coffee maker. As I said it makes great coffee let’s see if third times a charm. The warranty department for small appliances were very helpful and very nice ladies.
One small drawback is the water chamber is not easy to fill also the coffee pot when you wash it out always has water in it you must dry the inside by hand.

Today we unboxed and set up our new GE coffeemaker that arrived yesterday and before long we were enjoying fantastic tasting coffee in our living room to go along with freshly baked cinnamon rolls. It’s so easy to use and the carafe is perfect. Love the stainless steel look too. It also holds 1.5 liters so there’s plenty of coffee to enjoy in just one pot!! My wife and I have owned countless GE appliances since we married 40 years ago and GE still hasn’t disappointed us. Thanks so much GE, we can’t wait till tomorrow morning!.

  11. Jblair3388

GE apparently was more into aesthetics than engineering on this one. The stainless carafe is poorly designed. When you get towards the bottom quarter of the carafe you have to invert it so much for the coffee to escape the inner lid that the coffee pours from the top spout and side spout at the same time, spilling coffee all over the counter. Also coffee is not nearly hot enough and a fresh pot must be poured and microwaved to get to ideal drinking temp. The flavor is also not nearly as rich as our old Krups machine.. the GE coffee maker looks great on the counter but fails miserably from a functionality standpoint.

  12. Bkbirddog

As others have said, the carafe is difficult to empty into the reservoir due to poor design. You have to overfill the carafe to be able to get enough water into the machine tank because you literally can’t empty it all into the machine. Dump out the remaining extra water before putting the carafe on the warming plate. I don’t know why the carafe is insulated because it does not keep the coffee warm for long. Pouring coffee out of the pot is messy and more difficult than you’d think possible. I don’t think anyone who designed and manufactured this machine ever tried using it, it’s phenomenally poor design. I got it as a gift and I feel bad even trying to give this thing away.

  13. Ginn

Coffee tastes very good. Stays hot. Easy to use. Thermal pot does not like to completely pour out the last 2 tablespoons of liquid. Requires some shaking! Coffee maker shuts off automatically after brewing. Clock does not remain lit continually. But, if you press a button the accurate time illuminates ( like when you touch your phone). No real fingerprint problem.
Looks as nice as more expensive makers. I am happy with it. I look forward to safely enjoying the thermal carafe while sitting outside.

  14. Thump9

I was extremely happy to find that this carafe truly keeps coffee (or water) hot all day. Not only does it look sleek it is super easy to use. I really love the “Bold” brew option. This will be perfect for our bar this winter where I am always whipping up hot chocolate beverages for guests and now the hot water will be ready to go at a moments notice and I don’t have to keep heating up water. It is super easy to clean and is fairly quiet while brewing.

  15. Anonymous

We love our new coffee pot! Complete stainless steels ensures the coffee stays warm for hours… and bonus- our kids can’t break the carafe!

  16. Dotn

It is impossible to completely pour all liquid from pot because of the lip inside the pot. Turning the pot completely upside down will not even remove all liquid. If I fill pot with water to fill the water reservoir, there is still water in the pot which I have to empty before brewing coffee. So have switched to using cup for filling water reservoir. After brewing a pot, can not completely pour all coffee out. Eventually turn pot totally upside down, but then coffee comes out both the pour spout and the brewing whole in the top of the lid, which causes coffee to spill outside the cup. A mess to clean up. This pot needs to be redesigned. I would be interested in getting a better pot to use with this coffeemaker.

  17. JayNY

This is probably the best looking coffee maker in the market. However, I was very disappointed it only lasted for about a month before it went completely dead. So when it worked, it has a few design flaws. It is very difficult to pour water into it as the opening is too narrow. The outside materials are difficult to clean. Also to get all the liquid out of the carafe you have to tilt all the way, and it won’t come completely out. In short, very beautiful looking coffee machine that has some design flaws and was not built to last.

  18. Jtilly60

I bought this maker because of its size for my limited counter space and I thought the stainless steel pot would keep the coffee warmer. I am disappointed with the pot design. It has a rim that doesn’t allow for the water to pour into back easily without spilling and at the end you can never pour out all the water. I empty the left over water in the sink before I start. Then once it is finished brewing, the warmer on the bottom goes off. So the coffee doesn’t stay as warm after 2 hours. And of course pouring out the coffee in the bottom of the pot doesn’t work well. You have to take the lid off to get the last bit of coffee. Then finish rinsing with water to remove the rest of the coffee. I have to dry to get all the water out. I would not recommend or purchase again.

  19. Amytt

The only thing good I can say about this coffee pot is that it brews the coffee fast. The time it took to get the coffee pot from GE was months.. It doesn’t stay hot like a Yeti because there is no way to close off the hole in the top. The clock doesn’t stay on unless it’s brewing. It pours extremely slow into the cup so filling a thermos is annoying. I’m going back to the black and decker one I used for years. And just going to pour it into my 32oz Yeti. Oh and the coffee doesn’t even taste good.

  20. Mully1

I was looking for a coffee maker with a thermal carafe. This coffee maker meets my needs. I really like it. The only design criticism I have is that i have to turn the carafe up side down to empty all of the coffee out of the carafe. Sometimes it spills.
I did not care for your writing guidelines. I should be able to write whatever I want. I also had a hard time coming up with a nickname that was not used. Who cares if it is used more than once. It is not a password. ugh

  21. Cantor

All I wanted was a carafe to keep coffee hot after brewed in my regular coffee maker. My wife found this and although I balked, I finally gave in. It is a smart looking streamlined coffee maker that I fill up to line 4 every morning. The first cup pours fine and is sufficiently hot but the coffee maker is now turned off which makes sense as the carafe is supposed to keep the contents hot for several hours. It doesn’t. Even after an hour, I still need to microwave my second cup for 30 seconds. In addition, the remainder doesn’t totally fill the cup as I then have to take the top off and tilt the carafe to the side causing some spillage on the counter. Even then the carafe is not totally empty. This product will be tolerated until a time comes when it is no longer functional and the contents will be recycled.

  22. NoClockDisplay

Is there a simple setting or way to set the clock to display the time continuously – as in ALL THE TIME? I see the questions similarly asked by other customers but no clear answer is given. C’mon GE – either say you can and provide the instructions or say you can’t and own the problem. Pointing people back to the manual is a pretty crappy way of deflecting the problem here. Oh – and like so many others have noted – you can’t completely empty the carafe under any circumstances.

  23. AJ123456789

First coffee maker top lid warped. Not good fit and finish as when new. Only one day old. Exchanged it fo a second one. Same thing after 2 to 3 pots. Somehow the hor water in the top make top lid warp. Exactly the same sides in the same area. Faulty design.
Too bad. Getting my mony back on this maker.
All features work good. Just looks bad with top like that.
I don’t think GE makes this. I think it’s made by Haier, a Chinese company that makes appliances.
So too bad this simple detail was let go. They must have known. I’m buying another brand.
If someone can’t see well or don’t mind this, then I would recommend this with 3 rating. Brews ok and the maker besides the top looks good. My experience says when a flaw is found, a higher percentage that something else hidden could be there. It is what it is.
