I recommend if you think the cord won’t be too much of a hassle. My lawn is broken up with gardened islands, so it’s not a nice rectangular shape that’s perfect if your mower is corded. It does a very nice job of cutting a fairly even lawn, the grass not high enough to big it down. It rattles a bit because it’s not heavy steel with a gas motor. Don’t abuse it with sticks, stones and heavy debris and this mower will cut just fine. The blade can be sharpened but it cut great right out of the box. Take good care of it and it will last. Fighting the cord became too frustrating and time consuming for me so I’m going to go with the battery version. My lawn is 2500 sq. ft. If it was a nice square or rectangle lawn, even if twice as big, I would keep this corded model.

Since the 17″ model no longer seems to be available, this review is for Greenworks 16″ model # 25142, which is virtually identical.
I have a small lot in Florida with a lot of river Oaks that shed their leaves (about 2″ oval, thick) about mid February. PIA to rake up, especially if you have rotator cuff problems and back problems.
I bought this because one reviewer said it worked like a vacuum cleaner / mower.
    I TOTALLY AGREE.
The mower is light weight and maneuvers easily. It did very well mowing and picking up leaves in the 3rd position. In taller St Augustine grass, the 2nd position would bog down and it would be very slow going, so 3rd height is better. Slightly damp leaves in shaded areas took 2 passes (one forward, 2nd backing up). No, it did not get every single leaf – but neither does raking!
Getting used to the cord management took a bit of getting used to, but once I got the hang of it, pretty easy. (I have never owned a corded mower before.) Always mow away from the outlet source, preferably at a ~90 degree angle to your outlet so cord follows/trails you. Someone on YTube did a great, short video on mowing tips with a corded mower, WATCH IT!
75 ft 14/3 gauge extension cord worked great. I’m sure a cordless mower would be easier, but with the corded, you always have 10 amps, 120V of power, no recharging. And no gas fumes, running to the gas station, oil changes, air cleaner filters, etc.
Bag works very well, held more than I thought it would! When it starts getting full, the front wheels tend to get harder to keep down on the grass and it’s harder to push. It pays to check! The bag is a bit tricky to remove when full due to weight, easy to reattach when empty. And it vacuums much better with an empty bag.
I was VERY happy with how well it vacuumed up the Oak leaves! And the grass clippings left on the lawn were nearly none existent. Nothing for the dog to track in!
My neighbors were impressed also with the job it did. One thought it merely vacuumed the leaves and was amazed that it cut the grass too! Haha
Very compact, handle folds up nicely, can store vertically if wanted with bike hooks(?), but I’d have trouble lifting up that high on my wall. (Inseam deficiency)
So this year I cleaned up the leaves for about 1/2 the cost of having them raked and in 1/2 the time.
Greenworks hit a home run with this mighty little beast!

I needed a small mower to mow in my dog’s play yard. trimming took forever and did a terrible job. this little mower does a wonderful job and collects the grass in the bag. It is working well on the leaves also. It is saving me a lot of time. I love it. no complainants.

  5. Akimball

So disappointed in this product. It mows fine on flat surfaces but put it on a hill and the blades drop down to grass killing level. Every time you rise the blades up they fall down again. The teeth holding them into position are too tiny. The slightest change in ground level knocks them out again, and we are not talking about hitting rocks or stumps. This needs fixing!!! In the meantime we will be quitting the Greenworks brand.

My wife and I have had the best experience with our quiet electric lawnmower. It last for 2.5 hours so I can mow the front and backyard any time of morning or night without alerting the neighbors what we are doing. If you are trying to be low profile or dodge your neighbor who insists on talking your ear off, I highly recommend the peace and tranquility of an electric mower.

  7. MD57

I love this cordless mower. It replaces a corded Greenworks mower that I really liked but didn’t have a grass catcher. This 40v mower is plenty powerful through my backyard weeds efficiently picking up all of the stickers and thatch as well as my manicured front lawn. Grass catcher is really easy to pop on and off and dump. Battery lasts a long time.

I purchased the mower about 4 weeks ago and have used it twice. It does not cut a sharply as it should but does a pretty good job. After back surgery, I need a very light mower and this one is. The battery is a bit difficult to get out of the mower. All in all, it is a good lightweight little mower that hopefully, I will be using for years.

  9. Dpw0047

I bought this mower last summer I harassed my backyard and I needed something light weight bank with it works great I am very happy with it and my wife took it over and does all the trimming in the yard with it because it’s simple to use no gas no oil no pull in at the start just push the button and go

I am a senior, single lady. My old lawn mower, of many, many years decided to give up. I bought this mower mostly on recommendations and it has lived up to all my expectations. From fast delivery to its first use. Light weight, easy to handle , perfect for my small, city yard.
