The best little device you will own! We were able to charge our two phones and power the living room lamp for over 2 hours. We are in an area where we are prone to power outages due to severe storms, so this is such a handy device to have. We have two additional batteries from our other Kobalt power tools, so we will able to use it for longer (I’m hoping 6 hours!). It has a nice handle to carry it and it is actually very quiet as well! I would highly recommend this product if you have power outages, go camping, or like to travel a lot!

I was tired of the extension cords and always having to set up near an outlet. I picked up the inverter as a possible solution and it has exceeded my expectations many times over. It is so handy to be so mobile now. I have taken it to the beach, the mountains and all points in between. Very portable which is what I needed. I started with my electronics mostly (phone and laptop, fully juiced the phones multiple times and gave laptop battery 60% longer usage) but I have used it in the garage and backyard projects when I couldn’t get to an outlet. A frustration saver for sure, I’m telling all my friends and family about it!

Using a fully charged 6AH battery the unit powered a fan for 5.5 hours at the same time powered 2 USB devices. For less than 5 minutes during that time I unplugged the fan and expermented with 4 power tools. It would not power either electric drill I tried. That was a bit disappointing. But it did power a sander and a Dremmel tool.

At about 5 hours and 15 minutes the red light began flashing and then at 5.5 it shut down.

I don’t know if that is good or wonderful or not so good. It’s what it was, and I can consider it to be a useful power source when I don’t want to bother with an extension cord or when AC power is not available.

We just experienced a 19 hour power outage in 20 degree weather. Luckily, I ordered two 300 watt power inverters and they arrived very promptly. Unfortunately, that was a day after the outage. Going through that experience, I now know where they will be used and I plan on buying two more ! It runs the coffee maker, lights, tv, alarm system , charging phones, or anything that doesn’t have a large starting watt required. I have many 40 volt tools from KOBALT/, so, I am well prepared with power. Will not be unprepared ever again. Thanks

This inverter is a great little device, that is very portable, and gives you power anywhere you need it. Its easy to use, and the uses are unlimited. Working at home, its important to have power to ensure I can stay connected. During an extended power outage the other day, I hooked my cable modem up to this inverter, and I was back online in a flash! Its really handy to have around for many tasks around the house and garage. I would recommend this device not only for everyday uses, but to have on hand incase the power goes out.

With Covid closing our offices, my wife and I have been working from home for several months. I picked up this Kobalt inverter in hopes of making our “work space” more mobile. Since we bought this unit, we’ve worked from the picnic areas in the mountains, while camping, and even at the beach! This inverter is strong enough to keep our phones, laptops, and mifi charged for 8 hours with power to spare. We love this unit.

  7. Racer3333

I picked up this inverter to take to the race track to charge phones and the laptops if needed. Not only did it do that, it ran the trickle charger for the race car between rounds as well! This little gadget was plugged into the car for a total of 4.5 hours and still charged 4 cell phones and the laptop. It was nice being able to plug the car charger into it and just tuck it under the front end getting all the usual cords out of the way and clearing up foot space making it easier to work on the car. We will be packing it in the tool tote for every race from now on!

    Kobalt power inverter and battery

    Pros:
    1) The power inverter works better than expected, powering a relatively small but powerful Vornado fan while working my Saturday job at the farmer’s market.
    2) It also worked great powering the pump to our queen blow-up mattress, which is our primary reason for getting a high-powered portable battery with an AC outlet.
    3) The setup is reasonably lightweight and comes with a handy carrying strap.
    4) The battery percentage light indicators are easy to read and visible with the push of a button.

    Cons:
1)Battery doesn’t last as long as I would like. When I used it for powering my fan, I only got about three and a half hours of use when the fan was on medium. As I said, the fan is mighty and moves around a lot of air, so I imagine it takes a lot of power to run.

All-in-all, I am delighted with the device and feel confident it will keep our electronic devices charged and air mattress inflated while camping.

  9. MTRANCHER

I love this inverter! I’ve used it at sporting events, camping and it powers the interior lights in my job trailer! Its’ so light and compact you can literally take it anywhere. Even with the 2.5 amp hour battery you can get a decent amount of run time. 1 plug and 2 usb ports give plenty of options to get a charge or run a piece of equipment.

  10. CBeaz

This inverter has opened up the possibilities for working from different locations without worrying about a power source. The inverter is very portable (could even fit in larger laptop bags), and is very reliable for long periods of time without plugging in. I have not used it for camping / outdoors as I like to unplug during those trips, but could be important in an emergency.

Living in Florida, I’m always on the lookout for supplemental power sources in case of outages during storms. We can lose power for as much as a week at a time.

We have a generator but I only run it about an hour every four hours to keep the refrigerators and freezers cold and to cool the house.

Now I already have two 40V 2.5AH Kobalt batteries that came with my weed-eater and leaf blower and I have one 4AH battery that came with my push mower so I only needed this inverter without a battery.

When I came yesterday I put one of the smaller, 2.5AH batteries in and plugged in a fan. It ran the fan for over 2 hours. It exceeded my expectations.

I figure that, when we lose power and the generator is off, I can use this to run the TV and a fan at night when we’re sleeping. The 4AH battery should run the fan for four or five hours.

And, no more stretching out extension cords when I need to use corded power equipment around the house.

This is a great little device!

A very light and very handy device for portable electricity. A great backup system for a power outtage for laptops, phones etc. It is very handy at the farm for small projects where electricity is needed out in the field.

  13. Campbuck

I used this product and it did charge my devices. The size of the battery is deceiving as you would think it is powerful with a long lasting charge. I found that it was slow in charging my devices and that the product needed to be recharged frequently when used. Also, the size of the battery and the charger make the product awkward and not user friendly. It takes up a lot of space which makes it inconvenient to take camping or to use in your vehicle.

  14. CMann

Great little inverter for small jobs. To test its duration, I was able to power a 40w lamp for 90 minutes before finally cutting the lamp off. Worth the money!

  15. Alex

Compact 300 Watts 40 VDC to 120 AC – 2 x USB power inverter. Easy to use power source for a small 120 VAC tools.

  16. MattA

Great product for camping, tailgating, boating, etc.

  17. justanotherreviewer

Purchased as a backup power source for charging phones/laptops and running lights in case of power outages. Charges fairly quickly (~2-3 hours), clear indicators for when battery is fully charged and remaining battery power, and lightweight with a convenient handle.

  18. NotMyFullName

This battery inverter powers all of my other electronics that also have batteries. Great for long road trips. It does not power a toaster.

  19. TwinsDad

It works great with my batteries and charges cell phones, runs laptops, tvs, and lamps with ease.

  20. Robert

I bought two of these to have on hand for our next power outage. As a test, I used one with a 2.5 amp hour battery to power a table lamp with a 3-way LED light bulb. With the light set on the highest setting, the inverter and battery kept the lamp on for about 2½ hours. The bulb doesn’t show the wattage, but it was set to 2200 lumens.

  21. Zach

I have a Pit Boss grill, which requires being plugged in. I do not have an outlet on the outside of my house, so I bought this with the hope that it would be able to power the grill for the time it’s being used. I have two 5 Ah batteries from a Kobalt lawn mower that I have since upgraded, so I figured this was worth a shot to ensure that the batteries don’t just end up in the recycling center.

Overall, it’s able to power the grill for the duration that I need it for. Typically, one 5 Ah battery is fine for roughly 2 hours of cooking (being that one of them showed signs of degradation after a year, it’s beneficial to have more than one on hand).

I’m pleased with how this works, since it doesn’t force me to run an extension cord out my window to power the grill. I have to imagine this will also come in handy if my area ever experiences power outages.

  22. TinFoilHat

If you are already in the Kobalt 40v family, this makes a great addition and puts those batteries to another use. I have been needing a portable AC source for a while but can’t see investing in a Jackery or ECO River as their price-point is high for the amount of use they would get. This little sucker fits the bill perfectly. Small enough to throw in a bag and if you run it down, just swap the battery out.

  23. randy

great for camping and traveling, charge youre cell phone or flash lites. so many different uses. i purchase 40 volt kobalt’s units this spring. when this came up, ordered it right away.

i wished that would have on-site to see other kobalt’s accessories. like a 40 volt work lite or 40v portable radio, shop vac.

  24. g13g13g31g31g

The overall watt hours provided by the batteries is much lower than i’d anticipated. I didn’t do the math first, of course. it’s great for “oh crap the power’s out” or camping.
