Easy install and easy to configure time limit for on time on motion sensor.

My wife and I were constantly leaving the light on in our laundry room. I decided an occupancy switch would be the simplest solution. After checking reviews it seemed that this was the best model on the market.
I purchased along with the decorator wall plate (mod: CW-1-WH).
Install was simple and the product works well.
I was concerned that since my front load washer and dryer are less than 3 feet from the switch and facing the sensor that the movement from the drums would activate the switch, but that hasn’t been a problem.
It makes a tiny click sound when it turns on. I would prefer that it didn’t, but it’s not a big deal.
Hoping this will pay for itself in energy savings.

I have been debating for awhile wether to get these light switches or not and finally I went ahead and bought 2 of them. One for my half bath down stairs and one for my kids bathroom… the 2 lights that are mysteriously on 24/7!! This light fixture is amazing! It still catches my 4 year old daughter even though she is short and it goes right off after 5 minutes instead of being left on all day and night. These are cheap compared to the amount of electricity I was probably paying on those 2 rooms never having the lights off! Worth every penny! I want more of them for other parts of my house now so I can have the savings of the lights being turned off wether my kids forget or not!

I bought one of these for a hall light I leave on for my children at night. I was tired of it reaching nearly afternoon before I realized it was still on. This works great! I have the timer set high so the light is on while they fall asleep, but then it shuts off. If they walk out of their room at night it comes on to guide they’re way (and notify everyone else). I’ll be getting more of these for around the house. It also has a vacancy function for things like bedrooms. You manually turn it on and it automatically turns off when your leave. I’ll be doing that for the kids rooms! There’s no question that I’ll have one of these in every room eventually. There are enough settings to make it function well anywhere.

This is a great switch! Operates as designed and desired. The only problem is the programming of the time delay for disabling the light. Not very easily understood. Once understood, it is a simple operation and easy to program.

Hold button for 10 seconds till unit flashes a bunch and then wait and see how many times it flashes. Then click button to desired time delay.

I picked this up after researching several products. This is one of the least expensive brands/models that works with all bulb types. It also works as both an occupancy & a vacancy switch. My application was a large vanity area of the master bath. It works as specified with the CFLs currently in place. I hope it works as well as I change the CFLs to LEDs.

The sensitivity is high and the lights are on with the first step into the room. It’s easy to change the vacancy-off time by just holding the override button for a few seconds. The default is 5 minutes, but it took 5 seconds to set it to one minute. One bonus is that one minute gives enough time to get back into bed after those middle-of-the-night trips. I plan on getting another for the laundry room on my next trip to .

Installation is very easy. When it says “requires a ground,” it means it. There are actually two wires that need to be grounded. Wire nuts are included. Wires are pre-stripped. The switch will take up most of the box, so be sure to keep your wires clean, short, and pushed well back. Standard rocker face plates fit, so be sure to pick up something to accent it.

Also, the Invisible Hand browser plug-in shows that $19.99 is the lowest price.

There are spaces in a home that people typically spend little time in, but often enough forget to turn out the lights when they leave. In my house, the bathrooms, walk-in closet and laundry porch are prime examples. A light left on unnecessarily is money down the drain.

This item is the solution to that problem. Its programmable options make it flexible enough for nearly any situation. The packaging says each will save $25/year, I can easily see that being accurate. I bought 4 of them on sale, installed them all, and I’m very pleased with the way they work out in practice.

The only negative I see so far is that if you lose power you have to reprogram these, which for some options requires removal of the face plate… not a big deal, but non-volatile settings would’ve been nice. That and a way to force it to stay on, a feature I require for my outdoor automatic lights (though I can’t say I’ve needed it indoors.

Works as advertised. Auto-on and auto-off seem perfect, auto-off can be set to 1, 5, 15, and 30min. Programming was easy. Works fine with LEDs, no flickering. Only 1 thing prevents me from giving 5 stars, and that is the sensitivity. It is very sensitive. Even the low sensitivity senses @ ~20 feet!

Installed the sensor without any issues and my DIY skills are novice at best. Figured that since I didn’t electrocute myself then the install was a success. Switch is well built and seems solid with its construction.

I was surprised to discover that there’s no face plate. All you get is the switch and this is very deceiving compared to the product photo and even the packaging. I would have taken this switch back but I placed it in the laundry/furnace room that’s unfinished so it’s not a big deal. If it was for another room in my house then I would’ve been pretty disappointed. Wouldn’t recommend this under its current packaging.

When it said requires ground, I thought I might be in trouble, because I was installing into an older house, when it didn’t work, found a simple path to a cold water line, switch works perfect. So, when it says requires ground, any ground works in my experience. Great product, as are ALL Lutron products.
Only problem I had with it is when I take a shower, it goes off, BUT, since I’m behind the shower curtain, device is still working as designed.

This is the second one of these switches I have installed — neither worked correctly. In the first case, the switch will not start with motion detection – only manually – but it does switch off correctly. The most recent one does not detect daylight, so it switches on with motion 24/7. The switch is in a bath with a huge window – thus no shadows exists to fool the switch.

Another gripe I have is that these switches must be independently grounded to function. This is NOT stipulated on the box — it is only in the instruction sheet inside the box. This is a pain when wiring systems are properly grounded, but not at the switch box.

Added this switch to our laundry room because we have a habit of leaving the light on. Here’s the highlights:

    — Installation was very easy with the included instructions (I’m a novice-to-intermediate home repairman) and took less than 15 minutes.
    — The switch includes a number of configuration options; the only one I changed was the default inactivity time: I set the switch to turn off after 1 minute instead of 5.
    — The switch is extremely sensitive to motion; I have to remember to close the door or I’ll trigger it by walking by. Didn’t change the setting here because I want it to work when we’re in the room. As far as I know, the washer and dryer motion has not triggered the light, but we do have fairly new units.
    – The switch’s “guts” are fairly substantial and go deep into the electrical box. Make sure to tuck all of the wires back pretty far if you have older wiring and boxes in your home like we do.
    – Mine did NOT include the Claro wallplate; make sure to buy one with your purchase.

Bottom line: If your spouse or kids are always leaving the lights on in a room that is often empty (garage, laundry room, shed, even a bonus room), this switch will eventually pay for itself in energy savings. Get it, install it, and love it.

I am spending a lot on a Z-wave setup along with a Veralite but wanted something independent and motion sensing for my basement and bathrooms. Got these puppies for half the cost of a Z-wave switch. Walk in, lights turns on automatically. Leave and lights turn off after whatever time you set. Simple. As others have said, it is a plus that you program the off delay time by pressing and holding the switch. No need to open it up.

One possible down side (i don’t mind it at all) is that the click noise it makes when it turns on is a tad loud. Again, doesn’t bother me but could see how someone may complain about this.

Also noticed that had it cheaper than other local stores.

Been looking for an occupancy light for awhile now. Did many comparison with different product and price. This was the best of both worlds. It work as advertise. Convenient when we come through the front door and light auto turns on. Only 1 thing that bother me a tiny bit was that it turns on during the day when we pass by from a distance.
The design is great. The motion sensor is great. And the angle of detection is great. However for me it was too sensitive for my purpose. I had to use s small piece of label sticker and cover a portion of the sensor to narrow the scope of the motion sensor. Once I did that it worked perfectly for my scenario.

    Over all highly recommend it.
