This thing is like the fusion of incredible Hulk and puny Banner…
-Hulk because it’s amazing how powerful this green beast is with the third, extra impacting anvil
(whew…over 1,800 in-lbs. of torque). I first used this Metabo HPT Triple Hammer Impact Driver to rapidly sink over 40– 4″ GRK lag bolt/screws to put up shed walls onto floor base. Zero hesitation, no stalls. In close confines with 4 walls, this beast is LOUD! Make sure you have hearing protection or sealed ear buds.
-Banner because it’s puny. Compact size makes it easy to work in tight spaces. And its easy to control with tons of smarts…great technology with electronic 4 mode settings. Usually keep it in “P” full power but the “S” screw setting/program is sweet so I don’t over-screw.

    Other things I dig:
-Super lightweight. Using the hook-on tool belt, it’s barely noticeable until the long T25 bit stabs my knee.
-I’m using a small Metabo HPT 1.5Ah, 18V battery and it has never died, even on back-to-back days without charging.
-LED light is great for when you run out of sunlight thanks to Daylight Savings in Fall/Winter.

I work as a handyman, so I use my impact driver daily. I have been using Hitachi tools for years, as it is my opinion that they are the best value in proffesional quality tools. About a year ago, I upgraded my Hitachi impact driver to a brushless one. That made a huge difference in run time per battery. Upgrading to the triple hammer is another major improvement. I like that they have returned to a multiple power setting switch (full power snaps stainless screws very easily). The standard 3 amp/hour battery is much lighter and smaller than their old batteries. I have two of the 8 am/hr batteries, which will run this impact driver for a full work day.

  3. Jpink

I’ve owned Hitachi power tools for years and have always loved them. The new Metabo brushless impact driver is no exception. It is lightweight powerful and quieter than the other impact driver I own. I’m very impressed with the performance of this driver and highly recommend it to anyone from the diyer to the pro. Great tool!

  4. Russ

This tool is the bomb! Very easy to use and lots of power when you need it. 4 modes and easy controls that let you select the speed and torque you require for the job. I like the locking chuck and the option of turning on or off the light. This unit has a nice long battery life and charges quickly. I would rate this driver a 4.5 out of 5 stars. The only complaint is the manual. It appears to have been translated from other than English and as such reads strangely at times.

  5. Bill

I just upgraded/refreshed my cordless power tools with all Hitachi brushless tools and although I haven’t been able to use them much yet, I pleasantly surprised by the build quality – better than DeWalt, in my humble opinion and way better than the Porter Cable set that I’m replacing. This tool zips down deck screws into pressure-treated wood easily and with speed and power. I recommend this tool and the brand in general.

For a gentleman with smaller hands finding an impact driver with unmatched power and a grip that is comfortable for all day use was essential. The driver makes quick work of the most demanding applications while the 2 speed settings and auto feature provides unmatched precision simple. Light in the hand even with the multivolt battery and compact in size makes this my go to impact driver. Well placed LED lights gives a no shadow look at the work piece in dark environments. Metabo hit it out of the park with the ergonomics of the handle and size. Comfortable and well balanced in my hand while small enough to fit in tight places. Wish I had made the switch long ago.

  7. ACC123

This is my favorite 18v impact driver. I also have Dewalts that are good, but the versatility of this tool is next level. It has loads of power, and can crank 3″ screws in like a champ, but also has an excellent, very useable low-power setting. The control is what gives this tool the edge for me. The ergonomics are very nice, and for me the other settings–#3 is super-high power and #4 is for self-tappers–are ones I rarely need to use but am always glad to have.
This is a fantastic tool if you are on the Metabo HPT platform, and a great reason to get on the platform if you are thinking about it. I have many of the latest generation of Metabo HPT brushless 18v tools, and in my experience these tools are as solid and as refined as any of the more widely known offerings out there.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Working on the car, building a pool deck, puting together the home gym. These are all projects that this hammer drill has been used for recently. Work light selector is handy (tool work lights always seem to time out a little too early) Variable /selectable speed and torque settings make this a highly versatile tool. Can drive 3/8 × 6″ lag bolts into wood with ease then go to the garage and install vehicle trim panel screws on the wheel well with considerable finesse. This is my 6th Metabo cordless tool, warranty and build quality are second to none. Durability and longevity are impressive, I have had my 18v drill /driver for almost 20 years. Metabo tool owner for life.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I like the impact driver alot and the batteries but one of the batteries I got in the kit one was defective loved the customer service but took a while to get my battery replaced I figured iid get my old battery back no I got a used battery which was ok but it was broke but works it was a nonstock item whatever that means hopefully you get a better setup other than putting your name address etc I believe mine got lost in all the shipping

I bought this I bought the impact driver mainly for around the house shoes mainly to take lug nuts off my car which is all a 90 lb of pressure and it’s raining for I think around 1800 inch pounds which is over a hundred foot pounds and it won’t even budge my lug nuts I know they’re not made for that but what’s going to be in 90 and I think a foot pound 1800 like a hundred forty foot pounds so if they took mob with no problem the other night at the great girl is this very disappointed it won’t take my lug nuts off at 90 lb and I make sure because I have a torque wrench

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my go-to hammer drill for most applications. I own the 36v triple hammer drill also for the jobs I need a more power for. But this drill has handled any project I’ve thrown at it. And I recommend this drill to anyone looking for a dependable tool that they can always depend on.

  12. MtReno

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this a few weeks ago and have been pleased with the overall power, but especially the control offered by the different modes. It’s small and lightweight, especially with the compact 3.0 battery. I’ve used multiple other brands and this is the one I prefer now.

  13. Landon

Would’ve love to give it 5 stars but i find myself hitting the reverse button to many times when going to use it because the grip is a little small. Other than that very powerful and very useful impact.

Love it ! The price, the feel, the reputation. An impact driver is just what I was needing and Metabo’s fit the bill perfectly. Thank u guys ! I’m hooked on your products.

  15. Ted

I have to use a drill everyday and I wear them out quickly until I bought this drill, best drill I have ever bought!
Plus you would have to try really hard to strip out a screw head !!!

  16. Jrux

I have been using Hitachi impact drivers for years now, I started with the 12V but now have the 18V. I call this product the ninja in the market because it’s not as popular in the professional industry as some of the other brands. However I have been more than satisfied every time I purchase Hitachi power tools. I recommend this drill to everyone, it’s comfortable and powerful, even control able for those tedious jobs. If I had to give one improvement it would be the trigger sensitivity. It could be a little more sensitive meaning I would like the drill to respond as soon as I squeeze the trigger. This trigger will travel slightly b4 the drill operates. But this is just me being extremely picky. All n all its a great drill.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve had this Triple Hammer for about 3 months now. I really like how well it fits in the hand with a 3.0 Ah battery and I enjoy using it for anything from its obvious impact abilities for driving in deck screws but I also use it as a cordless screwdriver. It has many fine tuning abilities with the electronic settings so you don’t overdrive screws. On high speed you can drive in with a lot of power and even high speed drilling with the hex drill bits. I also own the new 18 gauge brad nailer so I was able to buy this as a bare tool kit and share the battery.

  18. Z-man

I received the product just before I started rebuilding my deck. It worked great and the battery seemed to last a lot longer than my other cordless drills. Its pretty small and light and packs a punch when running in long screws. The only thing difficult is figuring out the torque/speed button. I’ve read the directions twice and am still not sure exactly what it does, but it is nice to have some extra control.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this tool about a month ago to help me with a project installing a new seal around my garage door. I had never used an impact drill before to install screws, and was hoping that this tool would make it easier to accomplish. I set the tool to the slowest setting and use it to install 2 inch screws that I pre-drilled, hoping that it would not over tighten or strip the screw when installing. In the slowest setting, it did just that. The screws were installed at a slow pace but fast enough to not damage the screw nor the seal. After completion, I was quite pleased with the result as the seal was installed without any problems and the impact drill performed perfectly. I look forward to using this impact drill in the future for many more projects.
