I recently needed to get a new canister vacuum and considered several models before I happened to see this brand. I had never heard of Prolux before. This is a really great vacuum. I have wood floors and I use a Roomba for my main vacuuming but I have some throw rugs and other things I use a canister vac for. This has exceeded my expectations. It’s really nicely finished, comes with metal attachments, and I love the variable power suction control. Also it’s not super loud either (bonus points). I haven’t had it long yet so not sure how it will hold up over time but I am enjoying it now.

As I don’t own a air particle measuring device I have no idea if this works as well as a more expensive HEPA filter vacuum. But I do know is:
    Pros:
    Very powerful
    Good maneuverability
    Easy to use
Comes with about 4 different surface/floor tools and quite a few extra dust bags
    Con:
There’s a little sliding vent thing-y on the “wand” that opens VERY Easily which means that, every time this happens, everything getting sucked in is shot up in the air spreading around all the stuff you don’t want to be breathing in anyway. SO you gotta make sure to keep it shut with your thumb and keep checking on it all the time. Or maybe just tape it shut…

PROS: Worth $100. Very powerful. Very quiet. Lightweight. Cord works well. Bag easily changed but small. No dust thrown.
CONS: floor brush has no space between bristles so you can’t pick up anything unless you ONLY pull backwards. Big mistake, so easy for Prolux to fix. Pipe comes loose easily from hose, gotta jam it in. Main metal pipe is loose but it stays locked so ok. Wheels move slower after a year. Attachments very noisy but maybe that’s cuz it’s so powerful. Hose medium length so can’t dust above eye level. Overall worth it. On here now to buy the auto rug brush I saw when I got it, cuz it really is extra work to vacuum rugs.

I love this vacuum! It has a HEPA filter, which I need, but is modest in price. It is easy to carry and pull around. The wand and utensils are sturdy, the wand extends a lot and the bush head swivels. You can clean under furniture with ease because the floor head swivels to flatten. The cord retracts and the canister can roll upright or flat. It has adjustable suction and motor power. And, most of all, the suction is really good. I’ve had the vacuum for a couple of weeks, but have given it a real workout because we had some serious cleaning to do and I can’t think of a bad thing to say about it. I’m really glad I chose this vacuum.

I would describe this vacuum as a shop vac that is a vacuum. I needed this to fill in for the times my Electrolux breaks down. I love the Electrolux but can’t afford a new one, so this vacuum fill the void. This vacuum is best to use on hard floors, hard to use on carpet. It’s a very simple vacuum, very simple. It is a great vacuum for small spaces, and hard floors. I have not used all the attachments yet, but they seem straight forward. I do like the adjustable suction dial, so far it works great. If you need a back up vacuum or you have a small space this would be a good vacuum, but if you have a large home with lots of carpet, I wouldn’t recommend it.

I bought this vacuum based on the reviews I read. I have to say I am pleasantly surprised! The vacuum has great suction and does great cleaning up all the accumulated fur puffs left by our pets. It also cuts right through the dust that is just part of life in Las Vegas. The upholstery attachment works great at getting dog hair off the microfiber sofa, too. I will say that it is a little bit of a pain to drag it behind me and navigate not running over it’s own cord as I go through a room, but it works so well, I can easily overlook it. Overall, it is a great vacuum for hard floors and the price was great, too.

  7. Nika

I go through an oddly embarrassing amount of vacuums and this one is the best. I was hesitant about going back to bags but I no longer care because this one has the best suction. We have mostly hard wood floors, if I had carpet I might look for another version as this one’s beater bar is not the strongest.. but that doesn’t matter to me in our current environment.

  8. Katy

I finally switched from an upright vacuum to this canister vacuum, so glad I did! Great vacuum, easy to get around, quiet, great suction, long cord, and long extension to reach high places. Love having the vacuum cleaner bag instead of a bagless vacuum.

  9. Sydney

I was really excited to try this vacuum. All the reviews seemed positive and I liked the design. I was sad to discover this vacuum sucks. And not in a good way. The vacuum hated my long haired dogs hair and would not pick it up. It also got clogged constantly. I am returning it as it’s not worth $170 for me to keep it around. I think this vacuum would be better suited for someone without shedding animals.

  10. Jessy

Great vacuum for the money. As others have mentioned, if you are used to a rotating floor brush, this may take a bit of getting used to. But having used a canister vac most of my life, I found this one to be very satisfactory — especially the powerful suction.
Edit 2 years later: For those concerned about quality and longevity, I’m happy to report this little vacuum is still going strong. I’ve had many family members be amazed at just how well it works, especially for the price. It’s a good little workhorse for both house and vehicles. It is, by far, the best vacuum I’ve owned. Highly recommended!

  11. Jon H.

I LOVE this vacuum! I purchased it because we are removing all the carpet from our main level and installing real hardwood and I wanted a quick use vacuum specially for hardwood. I own a Kirby vacuum for the carpeted areas but get tired of switching out the attachments on the heavy thing to make it hardwood friendly. This vacuum is super simple to use and light weight. It has two speeds to it and is pretty quiet making it easier for me to vacuum whenever I want and not disturbing my husband who works from home and is on conference calls all day long. I did purchase a different nozzle as stated in other reviews that has soft bristles on it so no scratching the floors. great suction!

  12. DEKRM

So far so good – I’ve only actually used the vac once, but I have to say I’m impressed. The suction (which was my first concern) is awesome! There are different levels which I didn’t think was a bid deal – but it’s kind of nice to turn it down a bit when I can’t get the head to ‘let go’ of the rug! Also, it is VERY quiet. Both my daughter and my husband commented that they could watch TV while I was vacuuming – well, that’s NOT gonna happen – but it could:) It will take a few times of use to get used to how it pulls and what attachments work best – but overall I’m happy with this vac.

  13. Wayne L.

Higher quality than I expected considering the low price of $115.00. Vacuum is solid and sturdy. Rolls easily when pulled by hose. Not heavy to carry at about 15 lbs. Suction is way more than I need to clean my floors. In fact I use it on the lowest suction setting with great results. The only negative is the quality of the attachments other than the floor nozzle. They seem cheaply made. The crevice combo tool when used makes a high pitched sound that is annoying. I don’t use this attachment but for those who do ,keep this in mind. I would not call this a deal breaker because everything else about this vacuum is great. Again, at $115.00 you can’t beat the quality. Only four stars due to the attachments.

  14. andie

Love the vacuum. Only wish the parts had a compartment to go in versus attaching to the side.

  15. Jennie C.

Love this vacuum so far. Lightweight and love the adjustable suction control knob. Much more quiet than my bagless vac and I don’t have to deal w/emptying the canister every time. Not crazy about the beater bar attachment that I bought separately as the brush roller doesn’t seem to reach down to the carpet/rug fibers very well. The hard floor/carpet attachment seems to do a better job so long as the suction is set to high. Time w/tell on how long the plastic hose w/last as it seems a bit cheaply made. I use my vacuum often and thus far I’m very pleased w/my purchase.

  16. Dana C.

I really do like this vacuum. It is very powerful yet lightweight and easy to carry so you can use it to vacuum just about anywhere. I would have given it 5 stars except for three reasons. 1 – It doesn’t have anywhere on the unit itself to store the attachments. 2 – It isn’t bagless, which I didn’t realize until I received it. It did come with 5 bags, however, purchasing bags in the future may pose a problem. 3 – It doesn’t work well on carpet.
If you have mostly hard surface flooring, need to vacuum inside crooks and crannys, etc, this is a really great vacuum.

  17. Andrew B.

Great Awesome vacuum. I loved it from the first time I used it. Got it right out of the box and used it on my new hardwood floors and carpets, it was so easy to adjust and use. Was able to change the suction strength to adjust for my different floors, and it got them clean. It was very easy to move around the house. Cord is extra long, only have to move it a couple of times (our house is long and spread out). Noise is very reasonable for a vacuum! Like how the main tube can condense down for storage! Light enough that my young children can use it. Very powerful suction! Very well made as well! I usually don’t like house work, but I do like using this because it is easy to use and gets the floors clean. Highly recommended!!

I love the vacuum. I live in a condo with a cement floor, it was really hard to keep it swept up. Our push vac did not get the stuff up, especially the dust. It just blew around. This Tritan Canister Vac has great sucking action. From the light suction to the highest level of suction, it gets the job done. None of those dust bunnies get away from The Tritan! It is more easily stored, too. For the money this little vacuum is the best on hard floors. I am glad I got it. PS my husband thinks it looks “sporty.” So he liked that I bought it too.

  19. Heyguru

Received the vacuum and the first thing I noticed was better quality parts than I expected. World-class? Probably not but I paid $99 for Heaven’s sake. Still it was dramatically-sturdier than I thought it would be. Easy instructions but the kicker is the suction. I tried it out on the Minimum setting and it was drawing up dirt and crumbs easily from carpeting. I turned it to the Medium range and that was just about too strong, so I can’t even imagine running this on Maximum or anywhere near that. Very, very pleased and would recommend highly!

  20. asmjjc3

Like others, I read reviews carefully. I am now in my early 70’s and find that my Kenmore Progressive vacuum is too heavy to lug around and lift to get spaces up high. I really like this vacuum and it would have gotten 5 stars except for: 1) yes, wand extension likes to disconnect on its own; 2) the attachments do not like to stay in their little holder and go flying off; 3) some kind of locking device needs to be used (like the Kenmore) to ensure you don’t have to break rhythm while moving along a hallway or taking a quick turn into another room. I’d be willing to pay a little extra for these annoying fixes. HOWEVER, I enjoy the power, weight, maneuverability, and how little storage space this vacuum takes. Almost a total winner!

  21. LB456

It is compact, easy to assemble. It vacuums fine except that the power head for carpet does not roll easily across the carpet – you really have to push it hard back and forth, it doesn’t roll easily. The tool caddy which is supposed to keep attachments right on the vacuum is not very good and falls off easily. But for an inexpensive, compact and easy to use vacuum it is ok.

  22. Goodie

I needed a new vacuum, bought a high cost one, regretted the purchase, since I had to have 2 months of PT for an injured shoulder, it was so difficult to use. Returned it, and I did a lot of research, fortunately, found the Prolux Tritan, and it has been a great purchase. FYI: They are still in a Pandemic working at home situation, so don’t call use the e-mail option.

We owned Electrolux canisters for years. Our oldest one was 51 years old and although it incredibly still runs, it doesn’t have suction as it once did. We bought this Prolux Tritan to replace it. This vacuum has incredible power and we often have to turn back the dial on suction as it often too strong and will suck up the throw rugs.
So for the money, you can’t go wrong. Quality machine and no problems at all so far. Unlikely it will last as long as the all metal Electrolux did, but if it lasts 7-10 years, that will be good for me.

  24. Carol M.

I have had a Shark, Hoover, and Dyson and this is the perfect vacuum for me. Despite the low price there is nothing cheap about this fine little vacuum – it is ultra powerful, quiet, and so easy to maneuver – I love it. I was sick of “lightweight” vacuums with teacup size dust holders and constantly clogging filters, no such problem with the Prolux. True, this is a bagged vacuum which I don’t mind at all, at least I don’t have to empty it after cleaning every room.Try it, you won’t be disappointed and for the price, it’s a steal!

  25. Jane Eyre

Ordered delivered on time, item exactly as described and received in good condition. My, this is the quietest vacuum cleaner I have every used. It doesn’t have the carpet power head, but has very good suction. I like the straight hose, my old vac had some curved pieces on both ends, so I could not put a rod or broom handle in to push out a clog. The Prolux Tritan Canister vac rolls very nicely, and thankfully has a winder to roll up the cord with one step. The cord is also long enough for my rooms. I like this vacuum very much.

  26. Larry

This is a great little vacuum. Have waited to write a review as I wanted to give it a good thrashing. Very impressed with it overall. It really works well on hard surfaces, and it is excellent at auto interiors. I have several old cars and they have never looked so good. The adjustable suction is perfect when used on car interiors! Full on, this machine has very impressive suckage The only thing it does not do well is rugs. But hey, it does not claim to be anything other than a hard surface vac. I am very pleased with it.

  27. Tony W.

This vacuum appears to be well built and has a tremendous amount of suction as well as a large capacity bag. I would have given it a 5 star rating if the attachments had a better mounting system, such as on-board the canister. The attachment clip snaps snugly to the metal part of the hose but the three attachments are easily dislodged from the clip. One other minor annoyance is the hose is too short to reach our 9 ft.high ceilings to vacuum dust and cobwebs from the corners or around light fixtures.

  28. ulfkell

Like – powerful suction, vacuum bags clean and convenient; dislike – hose too short – hard to vacuum stairs; flat head too light – sticks to floor due to suction – need two hands to maneuver wand; unit heavier than most; accessories non-standard and useless

Like – powerful suction, vacuum bags clean and convenient; dislike – hose too short – hard to vacuum stairs; flat head too light – sticks to floor due to suction – need two hands to maneuver wand; unit heavier than most; accessories non-standard and useless
