Nice-looking, above-ground, no dig flower bed edging. But for you DIYers, it can be very physical. Conservationists are happy due to these 4 ft. sections comprised of rubber recycled from old tires. The rubber piece itself bends very well when following a curve.

Problems arise at the connecting joints especially dealing with curves. The connecting pins are grossly inadequate, not bending at all at the joint. They are made of rigid plastic, unable to close the joint. I am considering an epoxy to bring the joints together.
The rubber edging is secured above-ground by long plastic anchor stakes.
They are woefully inadequate: very difficult to mallet into the hard soil. When they couldn’t be knocked in, I switched to metal stakes and they went in much easier.

The holes for the connecting pins are not deep enough, so I use my power drill to go deeper. I use dishwashing soap in the holes that make it a little bit easier to fit the connecting pins.
Us DIYers are fortunate that there is Youtube; I knew about the drill and soap thru this excellent platform.

People are attracted to the appearance of the product, but Rubberific needs to give better accessories to eliminate the extra work needed.

I used this landscape edging in the front of my house and I love it!! I thought this was going to be hard to install until I saw a YouTube video telling me to put a drop of Dawn dish soap in each pre-drilled hole for the peg connectors and even some stakes that were difficult. Could not get the peg connectors in without this helpful hint so I wanted to share it with those of you who are reading this review. Finished product looks great I love it

This is exactly what we needed! I love how easy it is to assemble, I’ve done about 40 ft of it in around 15 minutes. I noticed most of the reviews complained about the pre-drilled holes sucking, but there’s a trick that make them really easy. USE DISH SOAP on the connector pegs and they slide together really easily. You can also put extra dish soap in the holes to allow for extra lubrication if needed.

    My only two complaints are:

    1. The stake holes are not predrilled, so pounding the plastic stakes through take some elbow grease, but not horrible.
    2. When they are really warm (direct sunlight), curving the edging is hard and the pegs slip out of the holes. We finally got it to go into place and staked it in and the stake hole split after about ten minutes. We adjusted the curve and that seemed to hold.

We were able to do a sharp corner by using a chop saw (not highly recommended) to cut two pieces at a 45 degree angle and it looks so clean! Kind of hard on the blade though. All the pictures provided are mid project, so we’re missing bark that would clean up the edging.

Overall, great bang for your buck and pretty simple to install once you figure out what you’re doing. All of the negative reviews that I saw can be negated with dish soap for the most part. Simple solution.

My family moves a lot and with each new house comes new projects which means weve worked with everything from stones to concrete curbing for landscaping. Our new house is the first time we’ve tried rubber edging and I must say its a shame we havent tried it before. Its so easy to install compared to other landscaping products and its attractive and economical as well.

The only issue we had is that the pre-drilled holes for the connecting pins werent quite large enough. This was an easy enough fix though. My husband just got his drill and drilled larger holes. It worked perfectly!! As long as the edging lasts and keeps its color reasonbly well we will continue to use it for future projects too.

This edging was easy to work with. A lot of the reviews complained about inserting the pegs, but with a little dish soap (as suggested on the packaging insert) it was so very easy. What worked for me was laying out all of the pieces where I wanted them first and then connecting them together (again, dish soap makes this simple). Once they were all attached and laid out, just a matter of hammering in the pegs. I curved the edges around the playground so we didn’t have to cut them for a corner and they curve nicely. I had initially wanted the kick-out to be on the inside, buried by the mulch, for a cleaner look. But realized that putting it on the outside would make it easier to mow around and avoid chewing it up with the weed wacker. I’m happy with it.

Spent this past weekend removing about 2000 lbs topsoil, by hand, for white grub problem, with intention of making a walkway. Found this edging at , and thought it’d be ideal for containing gravel and paver walway. Liked the look of the product and the quality, and the fact it’s recycled. Got it home, laid it out and began to install. Very disappointed to find, (like a previous reviewer from Knoxville in January 2015#, that the pre-drilled holes into which you are SUPPOSED TO BE ABLE to insert plastic connectors are by NO MEANS large enough to insert the plastic connectors- also, tapping them in with a hammer, as suggested, bends them. I’m a handy and practical female home-owner, but only have a 9 volt drill #which wasn’t even supposed to be necessary according to installation directions#, which used to try to use to drill out the holes – to limited avail. Drill isn’t tough enough to stay charged for the force that’s required to make larger insertion holes, so I sat there for an hour and a half last night trying to gouge larger holes, with an awl, and a small rasp, simply to be able to connect the pieces of edging together…which shouldn’t even have been necessary according to the simple-to-install advertised directions.
My time is worth more than this.
I called manufacturer, International Mulch Company, and spoke to a person who said they’ve had some complaints about the inadequately sized holes, but “not that many” considering the quantity they’ve produced. She also suggested I go back to store and exchange them – that others in stock might have bigger holes… I pointed out that I’d already randomly selected twelve lengths, hauled them home, and ALL have the same inexplicably small opening for the connectors!

So, even though I think this was the nicest looking edging I could’ve selected for my project, and the depth it would’ve provided for my pea gravel and paver pathway #compared to other, shallower edging# is more practical and desirable, I cannot waste any more time trying to find a good batch, with correctly drilled holes, and now have the added aggravation of being behind on the project; having to haul the product back to for a refund; wasting time and gas, to select an inferior product. And no, I’m not buying a new drill so I can tackle what should be an unnecessary job. By the way, the person at IMC asked that if I found the same problem with all pieces, to call her back, since they’d like to know about such a problem from a manufacturing standpoint. Maybe quality control should have taken care of that. Perhaps I was unlucky enough to simply have hit a bad batch at the Glenmont, NY store. Maybe others will have better luck with other regional deliveries. Major disappointment and waste of time.

I always try to leave positive reviews because it is so easy to be critical, but this time I just couldn’t do it. I hate wasting money and time. I REALLY hate doing things twice!! I was excited to find this product in Lowe’s. Got it home, opened it up. Cheap plastic stakes that I’m suppose to drive through a rubber hole that is not completely drilled out. Are you serious?! My hammer just bounces of this mess! And now I’m reading that the rubber quickly disintegrates and I will need to replace anyway. Come on, Lowe’s! You’re better than this. The only thing this product has going for it is it looks good and uses recycled materials.

We liked the look but installed it with the flat edge away from the grass and we like it better. The mulch hides the flat edge and looks cleaner too us. Holes need to be larger and predrilled for the pins. A few pins bent in the process, so we used a metal stake to predrill a hole in the ground. For a few more dollars, we might use metal stake for the rest of the landscaping.
Definitely use soap for the connectors.
It is pricey and there should be a bulk discount.

We bought this product exactly one year ago. Like everyone else, we were delighted with how easy it was to install, it looked great, and it wasn’t expensive. Only one year later that delight has quickly faded. It has deteriorated at a fast pace. So quickly, it’s almost as if you can watch it dissolve. I have contacted the company, I got the typical run around and they have failed to return my calls. While it’s not an expensive product, we had a fairly large project so it was expensive, too expensive to replace in such a short amount of time. I wish we hadn’t wasted our money on this product. We’re stuck, but I hope this review will help someone else.

Easy install but did need to drill the holes bigger where you connect the pieces. Easier with 2 people

I liked the finished look of the edge of my new pool landscaping. This product made the edge neat and clean. When I first put down the mulch, and didn’t have the Rubberific sections, I had a bad, messy edge. It looked like I just threw down the mulch. Now it is neat and finished. It is really easy to work with. It will curve some without cutting, but like the instructions state, it will make any shape with some well placed cuts with a hacksaw.

Love this edging and how well it goes with the rubber mulch we purchased. Flexible enough for bends and curves. The only issue was the plastic stakes. Our soil is very hard and packed due to no rain. My husband purchased a masonry drill bit to drill out the holes a bit. Not a flaw of the product necessarily but something to keep in mind if you have very hard soil.
