I’ve been using this PWRCore Drill Driver with the PWRJump battery / charger for about a month now. To sum up my overall experience, I am extremely happy with this drill / charger / battery – the whole package. I will preface that I am a DIYer and Woodworker and I build all types of projects on a regular basis, and burn through tools quick.

To start with the drill itself, at this price point the build quality, weight, and overall ‘feel’ of the drill are all top notch in my opinion. I will also note that the belt clip is far superior to my previous cordless drill (a Ridgid). It sticks out a bit further and is much more substantial in feel – easily hooks onto my belt which is a MUST. The textured finish on the chuck is also fantastic – easy to grip.

As far as functionality, the variable speed is awesome and it doesn’t start off in a ‘blast’ on high speed setting like other drills I’ve owned. Clocking it down to slow setting also is a nice change. You can easily adjust torque, or set to drill like all other cordless drills I’ve used – smooth transitioning and easy. The LED light is specifically great because of the brightness and the angle it shines the light. It is pointed directly at the point of the drill basically, and compared to other drills again this stands out.

Power was top notch and THE BATTERY LIFE IS AMAZING! This is the first battery I was able to use a USB port on to charge up another device, and that was So Great! I record a ton of video for social media in my shop, so being able to plug my phone into this battery was a perk I didn’t even know I needed! The Charging Station rapidly charges up the battery, once I was finally able to run it down, and it works as advertised.

    CONS:
    – The only real con I could come up with is that there doesn’t seem to be a place to store a second bit. On my previous drill, there was a spot on the rear side to store a backup or secondary bit, and that was something I’ve become used to having. I use a lot of star bit and Phillips head for various types of projects, so it’s nice to quick swap that out.

All in all, this Drill Driver Kit is a tremendous value and if you need a fresh start to your cordless line-up, or you are purchasing for the first time do not sleep on this drill. Pick this thing up and get back to work!

I have had a porter-cable drill and this drill blew it out of the water. The LED light is handy the charging port for the phone is a great feature and comes in handy more that I thought it would. Has plenty of power. Easy to use and light. This was head and shoulders above what I had did not realize what a big upgrade it would be.

  3. Wilren3

I’ve owned this tool for a couple of weeks and whether it’s driving a 3in T25 screw or a little one inch Phillips head screw it has gotten the job done. Today when my phone ran out of power (should have turn the music off sooner) I was able to put a quick charge on my phone to make a necessary phone call. Never would have thought I would use my drill battery to charge my phone. The drill is very responsive to the settings you have it on. It is absolutely amazing how fast the battery for the drill charges, and how long it will hold a charge.

I bought this to upgrade to a 1/2″ chuck from my Model 2867 Skil 3/8″ chuck cordless drill which uses a Nimh battery. This one uses a Lithium battery which lasts longer and stays charged while idle much longer. So far I’ve found it to be an excellent choice for the price. It works well, has good torque and although I wasn’t impressed with the fact it had a light, I’ve found it to be really handy. My only reason for a 4 star review is that I can’t find a hard case for this drill anywhere. I have one for the older drill and it makes storing and transporting the unit convenient. Otherwise this drill is 5 star.

I just got this 20V brushless SKIL drill driver and used it to build a horse shelter. To say the least, I was very impressed. It is lightweight for a 20V. The battery charges very fast and has a long battery life. My favorite features are the tool belt clip, the rubber grip, and being able to charge USB devices while away from an outlet. I was able to drive in 4 inch Lag bolts with ease. The light shines at the screw and around it which is a big plus. I have had some drills where the light is near the trigger and it gets blocked by your hand or does not shine where it is needed. The keyless chuck is superb. Can tighten it with ease with out tearing your hands up. The one thing I would change about it is having a place to put a spare bit. I would recommend this drill. I gave it a 4/5 due to not knowing the longevity of the drill.

  6. Matt Pablecas

Today was the first time using this drill. I found the drill to work well. It was strong and had the torque needed to drill through 2×4’s with ease. I really put this tool to the test and it didn’t let me know. The battery life was surprisingly long lasting. I found the tool to be a little heavy. I’ve always wished for lighter tools just not sure manufactures can find the balance between power and weight. Great tool

  7. Who cares

Trash product. 1st drill the chuck wouldn’t hold any bit without slipping so I exchanged for another drill. 2nd the trigger out of box is stuck and the lever for gear adjustment just floats in place.

  8. John L

If you never try one. Please do. It’s the best drill out there. I can say that in our shop we have try them all and these skil drill by far out work them all.

  9. John L

Love the battery life and it’s one tough drill. It’s are must go to drill in our ship. You can’t go wrong. Get it and you will see.

  10. Angela

I’m a 65 year-old grandma having problems with arthritis, plus my upper body strength is non-existent. I got this power drill with a cleaning brush set so I could clean my bathtub (the cleaning brushes has an extending “wand) and oven, etc. to my satisfaction without killing myself. This drill powers up those brushes and scouring pads and leaves everything like-new clean! Never thought a power drill would occupy a place of importance with my cleaning supplies, but my little SKIL drill is now a must-have. I love it!

  11. Jeanne P

I bought this cordless drill to put election signs in frozen ground. Wouldn’t have been possible without it ( and a 12 inch masonry bit). However, I’ve never had a cordless drill before, and the instruction manual didn’t explain that there was a battery cover that had to be removed before charging. I ended up calling the company help line. The person responding gave me the needed info and said this was not an unusual problem. Design the instruction manual for those, like me, who truly need it!

  12. Stummy

Okay but , I got this three ago and it has plenty of torque and run time . Pretty well balanced and has a good feel. The two draw backs it drops bits in reverse if you don’t keep checking and tightening the chuck which is a pain when your up on ladder and your bit hits the ground. Second is the forward / reverse switch which is very touchy . Doesn’t take much pressure to move it and then it locks the trigger.

  13. Michael Cav

I wasn’t expecting a whole lot from this drill/driver but it hangs with the big boys. It has plenty of power and it much smaller than the other brands. I like the size/power ratio and it will become my go to for many tasks. For reference, I have other drill/drivers in the Ryobi, Dewalt, and Bosch lines. Great drill and even better for the money.

  14. Ron D

This is my 1st cordless drill and I don’t use a drill very often. I’ve used this some and so far haven’t needed a recharge. I can’t speak about battery time between recharges, but I can say it has amazing torque. I was removing a rusty fastener and the drill nearly twisted my wrist. So far I’m impressed.

  15. Alex D

It has a good balanced feel. I like how lightweight and compact it is. Ive only had it a short time and it’s shown to have enough power for my home rehab needs I’m giving it the highest rating because if it continues to holds up over time and use, it gets my highest rating.

  16. Mike2212

Nice drill. Comparatively light in weight. Powerful. Like the time it takes to recharge the battery. BUT I don’t like the keyless chuck. I’ve followed the instructions TO THE LETTER,
but the chuck drops drill bits frequently. I really am annoyed at that part of it.

  17. Raymond in Dallas TX area

Noticed the chuck key doesn’t tighten like it should. Was using a metal grinding stone and it fell out twice. It has so much power that it spun so much my hand got hot. Will have to adjust the number I’m using to see if that doesn’t happen again. Maybe a learning curve.

  18. Black Sheep Designs Co

SKIL has really Up their game with this new 20v system. After using this drill on multiple projects the past month and a half, I’m amazing at the power and the quick charge feature. I would definitely say this is one of the best drills I’ve used in the past few years

  19. Anonymous

This is a great drill/driver with tons of torque and power for a battery powered tool! Battery lasts a LONG time and charges quickly! The chuck seems weird at first, but, once you get used to it it is all good! Skil, keep up the good work!

  20. AnthonyS

I was very pleased with the Skil impact driver I purchased last year so I decided to buy their drill and I couldn’t be happier. It’s compact and perfect for any job. Skil is really making impressive products now.

  21. JHWHAR

My other tools failed in the middle of a project and I picked the PWRCore 20™ Brushless 20V 1/2” Drill Driver Kit with PWRJump™ Charger based on the SKIL brand name. I’ve been pleased with my choice.

  22. Jimbo1

Perfect for all my household chores. Light weight, variable speeds and torque, compact size, vert fast charging and brushless. It’s brand new. If it holds up for years, it rates 5 stars.

  23. Wanda

I bought this drill for myself since my husband’s drills are always in the garage or on the Work site… It’s great and dependable, and now my husband even grabs it and uses it.

Fantastic tool. I bought this for general purposes. The only thing that I don’t like is the fact is the battery that came with the tool. Isn’t one of ones with the usb plug.

  48. Strick

Replaced a 12V Craftsman and can definitely tell the difference in power. Battery charges quickly. Haven’t had it long enough to attest to how long it will hold a charge.

  49. DonI

Happy with the purchase. Nice drill with a good battery that holds a charge. Would have liked a bit more torque but it is adequate for most ’round the house jobs.

Well built drill – you can feel the quality when you pick it up. Does the job well. Battery holds charge for a long time. I am very pleased with this purchase
