Had been gifted a cedar bed frame that needed to be cut down. The corner posts were more than 6” in diameter so this tool seemed like a good option for a test run of this chainsaw. It was smooth sailing and made a clean, swift cut. I’m taking it into the woods next!!!

Small, light, quiet and portable chainsaw. Perfect tool for small jobs in your back yard. It is easy to use, requires no tools, not even a screwdriver to tighten the chain. It weighs only 5.5 lbs., so it is easy to carry over long distances. It fits into a backpack, even though on backpacks that are les than 2 feet tall, the blade will stick out at the top, but that’s OK, since the chainsaw comes with a hard plastic cover for the blade. Don’t try to cut a 100 year old Douglas Fir with this saw, but this chainsaw is perfect for cutting smaller trees or branches, up to about 6 or 7 inches in diameter. I have managed to cut even larger trees, but it’s more work on those. Best of all, the chainsaw is comparatively quiet. You won’t get any complaints from neighbors.

I was tempted to take this oversized beam back to the mill to cut but thought I’d try this chainsaw instead. Glad I did. Save me an hour drive and made a clean cut.

  4. Nightstalker

Lightweight and cuts awesome! Cut down 2 Cherry trees and it went thru them like cutting soft butter. Being lightweight, one can use it one handed when needed.

  5. Markey

I love it for carving! It’s light and nimble, it’s quiet. What’s not to like?

  6. New2DIY

This chain saw is very impressive! I had a cedar tree that was down in my backyard that needed to be cut into smaller pieces and this did the job. I was impressed with how quickly the battery charged and was up and running within 30 minutes. The quick charge did make me a bit apprehensive with how much power I would get from a battery-powered chain saw, but once I fired it up, my doubts went away. I was able to cut through the tree trunk with the same speed and ease as any gas-powered chain saw without any extra hassle, without needing to be sure I had gas on-hand, and without concern that I would run out of juice mid-project. The battery power is long-lasting and consistent. Another perk of this tool is how compact and lightweight it is. You could easily trim limbs from trees overhead with no trouble at all. Do not mistake lightweight for chintzy, though. This chain saw is clearly made with quality in mind and designed to get the job done. The easy storage bracket is genius and allows me to put my new tools away without taking up additional real estate in my garage, which is an added bonus. Lastly, the fact that I can take the battery off the chain saw and pop it onto my SKIL PWR CORE Blower to clean up is so convenient and makes swapping tools and finishing my projects a breeze.

The SKIL PWR Core 20 Kit works great. The saw is light weight, well balanced, powerful, and quiet. I bought this saw as a top handled arborist saw to trim my trees. This saw is easy to use single handed when up in a tree. The bar oil lasts a long time and It leaks very little. The battery lasts a reasonable amount of time. I have many gas chainsaws, but I use this one 99% of the time. For the price, this is the best value in a small, top handled chainsaw. Your first chainsaw should be a battery powered one as they are MUCH less trouble than a gas saw. I would buy this saw again.

  8. Wheels of Steel

I’m done with gas powered products. This chain saw has features that are as good as any gas chain saw and far better features than other battery powered chain saws. Chain brake is a huge feature and I love the tool less chain tensioning. Great quality and a good value for all the features.

  9. Secret Island Productions

Didn’t expect a 20v cordless chainsaw to be this good. Picked up so that I didn’t have to be firing up the gas saw at night for camp fires, and to throw in the SxS incase a trail needs to be widened. It’s the only brushless 20v with auto oiler at this price and it is worth every cent.

I got this chainsaw for myself – a 64 year old woman. I needed something more powerful than my old, smaller 8 inch battery operated saw. I have only used this a few times so far, but it is wonderful. It is VERY powerful, will cut through 5 – 6 inch logs without an issue. It is light enough to use and not get worn out. For a battery operated saw it really does the job as well as a small gas one, even my husband agrees. I highly recommend this saw for anyone who needs a good worker that is lightweight! Wish I would have gotten it years ago. Happy cutting. 🙂

Grest little saw. This thing cuts great and with ease.

We purchased the SKIL Power Core 20 chainsaw as I was using a “bucksaw” to clear deadfall
bows and trunks up to 5″ diameter…, a long and difficult job. Decided a cordless chainsaw would be a better option. Absolutely the right decision. The SKIL cuts through this work so efficiently and effectively. It handles this task for all the daily time I want to commit (+/- 2 hrs.) and doesn’t need a charge until at least the end of the next day, This is a good product and I am happy to be using.

When considering a new chain saw I didn’t think a battery power tool was an option. After a friend’s recommendation I decided to get the 12in SKIL Chain Saw, my apprehension was quickly changed when I used it for the first time. I was impressed by how much power I got from a battery-powered chain saw. The battery power is long-lasting and quick to charge. Another thing I liked with this tool is how compact and lightweight it is. I don’t have any large trees, so only needed the smaller 12 in. model for tree/cactus trimming. The chain saw worked like a hot knife through butter, with no trouble at all. The chain saw is well designed, and it got the job done. Additionally, I do like that I can take the battery off the chain saw and pop it onto my SKIL Blower. If you have smaller tree trimming jobs, this could be the right chain saw for you.

Yesterday I started working on a small tree and I used my PWR Cor 20 saw for the first time. I was very happy to find that this saw zipped its way through 3-4″ branches. I bought this saw for limning fallen trees and cutting smaller weed trees as I clear an area. I have confidence that I made the right choice. The 4.0 Ah battery was charged 3 months ago and it still had 4 bars on the indicator!

  33. Jodi Hurtado

So far I love this little chain saw, it is small enough and lite enough for me to handle to cot up fallen limbs. I also like the fact that Skil offers one battery for many different tools, I will be purchasing more in the future. I would absolutely recommend this product if your looking for something to do small jobs.

  34. woodlot manager

So far it seems to be okay, lightweight, easy to use; its one speed cuts but not fast. After cutting several small trees, the chain popped off suddenly, despite it being adjusted to the proper tension at the start. Couldn’t ascertain what caused that. But putting the chain back in place was no great hassle.

  35. tree cutter

I used this saw for the second time today. Initially everything okay, chain was at the right tension and free wheeling manually before attaching battery, battery was fully charged, ample chai oil was in the reservoir. The saw started fine and readily cut off a couple of branches, and I was happy until it abruptly stopped and would not start again. So, I tried the backup battery, but it still would not start, just made a single click and advanced the chain about 1 cm. So, I removed the cover thinking maybe something was jamming the gear, but no, just a bit of well-oiled sawdust and I cleaned it up like new. I tried again, but same thing, just a click when trying to start the saw. The electrical must be faulty, but with both batteries I ensured that the battery was fully slotted in, and the battery could not be removed without depressing the release on it. So, I think the wiring inside (inaccessible) must have no contact. Unfixable by the user, so there’s not much to recommend about this brand new saw. Buyer beware!

This little saw is a monster! I had some damaged small trees and limbs that resulted from a heavy snow/ice storm that needed removing and trimming. This saw was up to the challenge, and more! Battery operated, incredibly quiet, and enormously powerful!
