At 61, I am over yanking on cords, lugging gas and dealing with a ‘regular’ lawnmower. So I decided to go with an electric one. My yard is not all that big, but it’s not small either. Received the mower and it was super simple to attach the handle. Plugged it in to charge and could barely wait. When I pushed the button and heard a low whirl, it was music to my ears. No cords to pull, no heavy mower. And when cutting grass, it really mulches up the grass so much better than my old mower. In spots, the grass was a bit thick and high and it chewed through it. Love, love, love it!

Took 15mins to put together, charged, cut grass and put it away. Wife loves the lightness and quietness of it.

This is an excellent cordless mower for small yards or for cutting in tight spaces around flower beds, decks, porches, fence lines, etc.

Assembly out of the box takes 10 minutes. You’ll only need a phillips screwdriver to attach the handle.
For safety, it even comes with a key that you can keep secure, the mower will not operate without the key. Keeps curious kids from starting the mower.

Once assembled, charge the battery using the wall charger. When the light is green you are set. Max charge time will take 4 hours, usually less.

Fully charged this will run for about 30 minutes cutting normal lawn grass.

The collection bag fits securely on the back and will hold ten gallons of clippings/leaves before it needs to be dumped. It removes easily for fast bag emptying.

Deck height has three adjustments and can be done tool free. Love that!

This cuts easily, pushed like a dream because it barely weighs 23 pounds total. On regular grass we cut 30 minutes of cut time, on very thick or damp grass cutting time will be reduced.

This is an excellent mower for those that have small yards, condos, or like me, someone that wants to trim close to garden features, lawn ornaments, against fence lines and garden beds where the big riding mower won’t fit.

    I highly recommend it.

Okay, this lawnmower is light so there is no problem pushing it up a hill. On a single charge, I have been able to mow my lawn three times and the battery isn’t dead yet. I am charging it currently for the next mow. I have a smaller yard and it goes through it like a champ. The catch bag is small but it’s a small lawnmower and the expectations can’t be high on that. I love my sun joe and will buy another when the times comes.

This mower cannot seem to cut right if the grass isn’t already pretty short to begin with, if your lawn is over just a few square feet, or if the grass has even the slightest dew or moisture on it. I very specifically tried not to push it hard at all on my first couple runs, but it clogged, backed up, and stopped every 30 seconds or so, gave a terribly uneven cut, and the battery only lasted about 12-15 minutes each time it was fully charged. Maybe this mower would be good for very light trimming in a very small yard, but beyond that, it’s useless. Luckily, exchanging it was no problem.

I’m shocked that so many people wrote good reviews for this lawn mower. It’s got SEVERAL major issues.
1 – It’s extremely light weight and with no weight on the wheels, it feels like is just sliding across the top of the grass and you have to push pretty hard to make it move
2 – The wheels are WAY too small, so you can’t adjust it high enough and it scalps the lawn.
3 – It doesn’t have much power, so when the grass is thick, the blade slows almost to a stop so you have to move extremely slow

In the picture, you can see a single pass I made in my front yard with this mower.

Fortunately, (at least the one I go to) has a very good return policy and they refunded with no hassle. I think this is simply a classic case of “you get what you pay for”. If I get another electric mower, I’ll pay the extra bucks to get one that does the job! But I may just stay with gas powered mowers for now.

I have to say the fact that it is light weight and handles well and not having to pull start, big plus.
Grass bag fills to fast but run great so I don’t use it.
I have a 1/4 acaker and still have battery left. The macanisum on handle for starting it could be beefed up a little.

  8. Formeruser

Terrible products and worse customer service. I called four times to ask about the battery life and was made to suffer through an endless hold time. Finally I spoke to someone who was useless. His attitude was so light and snowboarder I realized I’d been duped. The battery cannot be replaced so the mower is now junk. Trading any response from the company instructs you to call the number where I assume there is one dude taking a break from boarding. Horrible company. Will never buy again.

Growing up my dad or uncles always mowed the yard. When I moved into my first home, my ex-boyfriend always mowed the yard. So here I am 47 years old and never mowed a yard before! I was intimated by gas mower because of the upkeep and fumes released into the environment. I read the reviews online about how easy cordless mowers are to maintain and the plus side no toxic fumes released into the environment. So Sunjoe came up in my web searches.

When I get the package, I was worried I wouldn’t be able to assemble it without help, but EVERYTHING was so easy. I am on 1/2 acre so it takes two charges to finish my lawn, but I don’t mind it. My grass was very high when I first got my SJ so it took quite a few charges to finish my lawn but I am impressed with how well it cuts and how lightweight it is!

I was truly looking forward to enjoying this cordless lawn mower. The yard that needs mowing is small and I didn’t want to deal with a gas mower or have the clippings blown back onto the yard, hence the bag being a good idea, but… It was horrible. Not only did the bag need changing after just a couple of extremely rough runs, the battery died way too quickly, and the highest setting for the grass height still cut my grass down to the root. The mower continued to stop even though the grass was not very high. Even after weed eating a bit off the top and then trying to use the mower, it still got stuck or the battery died. I ended up weed-eating most of my yard (which took a ridiculously long time), since using this lawnmower was just not working.

I need a mower that is actually going to work, and sadly this one will not get the job done.

I purchased this lawn mower online to be picked up at my local store. It arrived about a week later than original estimated pick up date so my grass was pretty tall. Even with tall damp grass it did pretty well. It is light weight and very easy to use. It is definitely for small lawns, if you have a big lawn you will need to recharge and empty the bag quite often. Overall, I’m very satisfied and would recommend for small lawn.

Just bought a house in the city and husband wanted a non-gas mower. Read the reviews for this mower and thought it was a good choice. After charging the battery he started in the front yard. Mowed for maybe 20 minutes and the battery is dead. REALLY. How small of a yard do you have to have to use this mower? Charged it again and started in the back yard. Only lasted maybe 15 minutes this time. Going to take it back. Very unhappy.

this mower is perfect for our small yard, lightweight, and easy for a 71 year old to use. the results are as good as the big ole gas mower, i have had a few neighbors stop and look it over, saying they would like one..

  14. NR

I am a single woman homeowner and I wanted a lawnmower in which I did not have to mess with oil and gas. This is perfect and the battery lasts long enough to mow my whole lawn (small lawn). Also, the lawnmower is very lightweight and easy to assemble.
