It’s a good machine. But don’t make it last forever. This is my second one of these. The first one lasted for 5 to 6 years. This fall it started to make weird noises and then the center area which holds the nylon cords which do the mulching started to spin off center. I thought I could just tighten the screw in the center of that portion of the mulcher, but it was plastic and broke off. Even so, I bought a second one of the exact same product. It’s made my Fall and Spring clean up of leaves SO much easier.

Opened the box and had it assembled and working within a few minutes. It shreds leaves quickly and seems very efficient. Volume is significantly reduced and I’m happy with it. It isn’t supposed to shred small branches, but does a pretty good job. I had to remove the branches & twigs or the chute tended to get blocked. It’s easy to clear once the mulcher is shut off.
I’ve only changed the cutting line once, but that was easy too. I think the line would have lasted longer if I could keep twigs and small branches from getting mixed in with the oak leaves. I have a huge oak tree that drops branches all year long. They’re very hard to see among the leaves.
One gets a lot of dust when operating the mulcher. I wore a face mask, but a respirator would be better.

This Worx Leaf Mulcher can definitely mulch dry leaves. It can also, with additional effort, mulch damp leaves. This product is, arguably, a robust, enclosed string trimmer. Can this unit mulch objects such as twigs, sticks, and solid pine cones which accidentally get mixed in with leaves? My answer: for the most part, No. Objects other than leaves tend to quickly ruin the trimmer lines. So a key question is: How easily can you, the user, keep objects like twigs, sticks, and solid pine cones from accidentally getting into the mulcher? A second important question is: How easy is it to replace the trimmer lines when accidents happen? Thanks to the Worx design, it is fairly easy to replace the trimmer lines. Still, it’s no fun to stop processing a big pile of leaves in order to replace the trimmer lines. Here’s a tip which I hope is helpful: I have been using orange Stihl .095 inch diameter Nylon trimmer line, instead of the smaller-diameter red trimmer line which comes with the unit.

WORX as advertised. See what I did there? Put heavier trimmer line in there. Might need to slightly drill out the string holes. Stacks together and stores on a shelf. As long as you’re within extension cord distance, your all set. Wear leather gloves because you’re gonna be sticking your hand in there. It’s ok.

This product does NOT mulch well. Only about 60% of the oak leaves that are about 2.5″ by 1″ put through the machine the first time slowly are mulched. Putting them through twice only helps a little bit. It does not cut down everything 11 to 1 but only about by half. The string cutter about one inch inside the edge makes it easy for many leaves to pass through untouched. The huge holes at the bottom do the same. The string that comes with the unit is such poor quality that you might as well use other string (brittle). I think you would be no worse off using a lawn mower with a bag.

Did the entire backyard (12 bags shredded) with minimal fuss, which included a good amount of twigs mixed in with the oak leaves.

It’s loud though, but probably unavoidable for this type of tool. Wear ear protection along with the eye protection.

The plastic lines wear out very quickly, but replacing them is easy and the device works very well

Easy set-up, simple operation, chewed right thru a giant pile of Sycamore leaves.
