    This is a heavy professional steel. It works like it should. When you pick it up, you know you have a serious tool. You can quickly regain you knife’s edge. Don’t be mistaken; it doesn’t sharpen but, re-aligns the microscopic structure of the sharpened edge without removing any material.

    The honing steel will realign your knife edge bringing it back to that “out of the box” sharpness. You should use this any time your knife isn’t cutting the way you want it to, although some use it every time they cut. The beauty of a honing steel is that you can’t do it too much; it doesn’t take metal off of your knife. It’s simple to do but a video on the website really helps. This 12″ steel can handle up to a 10″ knife.

    Remember, dull knives are more dangerous than sharp ones.

    This is a really nice honing steel I use this one for all my Zwilling knives and I’m always amazed at how sharp they stay. This does not replace your annual sharpening but keeping your fine edges in alignment ensures they give you the best daily performance. If you’re uncertain about how to properly use this just look at a video on line and you’ll be easily doing it in no time!

    This 12-inch steel will handle any length knife in one smooth stroke. The heftier handle is designed for folks accustomed to the weight. The ridges on the handle are a help when hands are wet. The loop at the end is there to hang the steel from the prep table or on the wall. Made in Germany of quality durable steel. Will last, even with heavy daily use.

    Great and easy way to keep your knives sharp longer. With the honing steel, you can keep the edge on your knives for much longer, and you won’t have to worry about sharpening your knives as much.     This is a quality sharpening steel. I had an older, cheaply made one from years ago that was rusty and so I purchased this looking for a good sharpening steel for my new Zwilling Pro Chef knife. The first thing I noticed was the weight. This is much heavier than my previous sharpening steel. It does the job and I know this product will last!

    Just like you change the oil in your car, or you comb your hair everyday, if you invest in good knives, you will want to hone them regularly to maintain the edge. This steel is a good option. The length is a little longer than some of the others. There are great tutorials online to get started.

    Honing or sharpening steels keeps your knives in shape. By using the steel the blade edge will be realigned. It will also remove and burrs (almost like a rough edge) from the blade. You’ll still need to have to sharpen your knives but honing the blades will allow them to stay sharper longer.

    I never knew how much longer I could go between knife sharpenings if I used this honing steel. I use this once a week right after I do my meal prep for the week and I have found that my knives stay sharper longer. I love the handle on this particular honing steel because it is easy to grip.

    This 12″ honing should be used regularly in between sharpening. This honing steel a maintenance tool to align the blade’s edge and stays sharpened to it’s angle to increase cutting efficiency. It is also recommended purchasing the super-eraser to clean any metal residue buildup.

    I have known and appreciated the German Zwilling Henckles brand of fine knives and cutlery products for years. I have numerous knives I have had a lifetime. I purchased the sharpening steel and a Henckles 12″ chefs knife as a Christmas gift for my son in law. He will love it!

    I bought this before I had purchsed a block set, which usually always comes with a honing steel. I have to say though, this one has an awesome handle! I love it and it has a ring to hang it. I can now keep my burrs at bay by honing on a regular basis.

    WIth frequent use the teeth on the edge of the blade become misaligned. Easily renew the edge by honing with this sharpening steel. In determining which length steel, ideally choose one about 2 inches longer than your blade.
